This is the fourth year in a row that Money has named Ramapo College to its annual Best Colleges in America list.
July 27, 2026
Ramapo College of New Jersey has once again earned a place on Money‘s 2026 Best Colleges in America list, marking the fourth consecutive year the College has been recognized among institutions that combine affordability with strong student outcomes to deliver exceptional value for students and families.
Money evaluated more than 2,400 four-year colleges and universities nationwide before selecting 735 institutions for its 2026 list. The annual ratings recognize colleges that excel in educational quality, affordability and graduate outcomes, helping students and families identify institutions that deliver exceptional educational value.
“Maintaining this national recognition year after year reflects Ramapo’s unwavering focus on delivering what students and families value most in a college education,” said Dr. Christopher Romano, vice president of strategic enrollment, outreach and engagement. “At a time when families are weighing the cost of college more carefully than ever, this ranking is reassurance that affordability and opportunity can go hand in hand and why Ramapo is a first choice college for students and parents.”
The four-star recognition reflects Ramapo’s commitment to affordability and the belief that the value of a college education is measured not only by cost, but also by the opportunities it creates and the outcomes it makes possible. Through close faculty mentorship, hands-on learning and personalized support, students graduate prepared to pursue meaningful careers, embrace lifelong learning, and contribute as engaged citizens.
Ramapo’s inclusion on the list reflects its longstanding commitment to providing an affordable education that delivers strong outcomes for students. With below-average in-state and out-of-state tuition rates, above-average four-year graduation and first-year retention rates, and national recognition for academic excellence, Ramapo continues to earn distinction as New Jersey’s public liberal arts college. U.S. News & World Report ranked Ramapo among the top 10 public regional universities in the North for 2025–2026, while College Choice named Ramapo the #1 public college in New Jersey.
The value of a Ramapo College degree is also evident in being ranked sixth nationally by SmartAsset in its 2026 America’s Best Value Small Colleges and Universities study, which examined average cost of attendance (COA), graduation rate, and median earnings of students 10 years post-graduation. Additionally, the return on investment for a Ramapo College education is also strong. According to Degree Dividend, graduates pay off their degrees 40% faster (3.8yrs) than the average in New Jersey (6.3yrs).
