Ramapo College Announces 2026 Distinguished Citizens Awards Honorees

Matthew Carcich ‘91 and Kelly Velasquez-Carcich, Susan Osgood, and The Honorable Holly Schepisi will be honored at the March 7 gala

Mahwah, NJ- The Ramapo College Foundation will honor four individuals for their professional achievement, commitment and community service at its Annual Distinguished Citizens Gala on Saturday, March 7, at the Rockleigh Country Club in Rockleigh, NJ.

Matthew Carcich ‘91 and Kelly Velasquez-Carcich P ‘19, P ‘21, P ‘25

Matthew Carcich is the president and chief executive officer of Freedom Bank, a position he has held for more than 15 years. Previously, he served as chief loan officer at Oritani Bank. He is a 1991 graduate of Ramapo College, where he majored in English literature.

Kelly Velasquez-Carcich is the senior vice president and director of government services at Valley Bank, where she has worked for 17 years. Prior to that role, she served as vice president for business development at Oritani Bank. Kelly holds a degree in business administration and management from William Paterson University in 2003.

Together, Matthew and Kelly are the parents of three Ramapo College alumni: Christopher ’19, Robert ’21, and Katelyn ’25.

Susan Osgood

Susan Osgood is the vice president of corporate human resources at Sharp Electronics Corporation. She joined Sharp in 2002 and was promoted to her current role in 2013. In this position, she oversees U.S. business human resources strategy, compensation and benefits management, staffing, training and development, payroll, and community outreach programs.

Before joining Sharp, Osgood managed compensation programs at Ernst & Young, LLP and led executive compensation and expatriate payroll functions at Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, Inc.

She is an active member of several professional and community organizations, including World at Work, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Montvale Chamber of Commerce, the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, Evanta’s CHRO Leadership Summit Governing Body, Advancing Women Executives (AWE), the American Management Association’s Women’s Leadership Center, ADP’s HCM Leadership Council, and the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Information Systems from Pace University.

Osgood joined the Ramapo College Foundation Board of Governors in 2014 and currently serves on the Strategic Partnership Committee. Sharp Electronics is a longtime supporter of Ramapo College, regularly participating in the Annual Distinguished Citizens Gala and Golf Outing.

The Honorable Holly T. Schepisi

Senator Holly Schepisi (NJ-39) served as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly from 2012 until March 25, 2021, when she was sworn in as a member of the New Jersey State Senate. She represents the 39th Legislative District, which includes 28 municipalities located in Bergen County. She serves as a member of the Health, Human Services, and Senior Citizens Committee, the Community and Urban Affairs Committee, and has been selected as the Republican Conference Leader. While in the Assembly, she sat on the Environment and Solid Waste, Judiciary, Housing, and Appropriations Committees.

In June 2022, Senator Schepisi joined the law firm of O’Toole Scrivo, LLC as a partner. Before joining the firm, she had her own law firm, Schepisi Consulting & Law, LLC, had previously served as vice president of Holy Name Medical Center and president of its Foundation, and was special counsel at Huntington Bailey, LLP.

Experienced in public issues, Senator Schepisi currently serves as counsel to the Park Ridge Board of Public Utilities and previously served as the public defender for the Borough of Oakland and the township attorney for River Vale. She is an executive committee board member of the Bergen Community College Foundation, a board member for the Adler Aphasia Center, the previous president of the Fordham Law Alumni Association, New Jersey Chapter, and serves as an advisory board member of Provident Bank.

Senator Schepisi earned a bachelor’s degree in politics and psychology in 1993 from Catholic University of America and a law degree from Fordham University Law School in 1997. She currently resides in River Vale with her husband, Paul, and her two children.
