(MAHWAH, NJ) —- Collection Query…an experimental exhibition featuring works from various Ramapo College art collections, opens at Ramapo College on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 in the Pascal Gallery on campus. Collection Query… is curated by Director of the Art Galleries Sydney O. Jenkins and Art Galleries Documentation Assistant Hannah Craft.

According to Jenkins: “While some of our collection pieces are continuously on view on campus, other works remain in storage a good bit of the time. This project is a chance to present seen and seldom seen collection pieces with an investigative and reportorial attitude.  Information about the works will be provided, and there will be a forum for audiences to document questions. The dot-dot-dot in the title implies that there is more to the story.”

A wide range of artworks will be featured, ranging from a major work by noted feminist Nancy Spero to Modernist paintings by Jack Roth. New pieces on view will include Haitian flag masterpieces and Mexican folk paintings recently donated by New York Times economics writer Dr. Tyler Cowen.  Named collections represented include the Bukstein, Rodman, Thompson, and Morris/Svehla collections.

This program is made possible in part by funds from the New York State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Pascal Gallery is located in the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts at Ramapo College. Hours are Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Wednesday from 1 to 7 p.m.  For more information call 201.684.7147
