Deep listening is crucial in the current health care environment where multiple distractions have been shown to undermine the ability for nurses to process what they may be hearing, or to be “present” for their patients. These multiple distractions may also relate to alarm fatigue, which has become such a widespread problem that The Joint Commission (TJC) issued a sentinel event warning.

In this experiential workshop, Pauline Oliveros will introduce Deep Listening practice and will engage the audience in her sonic (sound-based) meditations followed by a concert with composer, performer, Seth Cluett and Trumpeter, Ben Neill.
