Today, Thursday November 14th, come show off you artistic talent at Body Art Night at 9pm in SC 137-138, hosted by the College Programming Board! The event will consist of a face painting competition, and the winner brings home 4 Gold AMC movie passes! Whether you want to be the painter or the “paintee”, you’re bound to have a blast. There will also be free henna and airbrush tattoos! And don’t forget, if you want to lend a helping hand for the upcoming holiday, this month the Civic and Community Engagement Center is running its Thanksgiving food drive and all donations are appreciated!
Friday, November 15th at 7:30 pm, the Women’s Basketball team will be playing SUNY: Institute of Technology. Cheer on Ramapo’s Roadrunners! Want to help save the Earth and make cool crafts at the same time? Join College Programming Board later that night for its DIY: Recycling How to Event at 9pm in the Pavilion. There are countless ways to turn things you might throw away into a great project, and here you’ll learn how. So come and be a part of the sustainable crafting fun!
Start off your Saturday with some volunteering! The CCEC will be holding its weekly volunteer trip to Teaneck, NJ where students will be tutoring kids in grades K-12. They will be focusing on subjects like Math, Language Arts, and Arts and Crafts but no tutoring experience is required, so any one is welcome to come! This is a great opportunity for people looking for a volunteer experience or for those pursuing a teacher education certificate. The bus will be leaving campus around 9am and will return around 1pm. For more information, contact the CCEC, located in SC-213, at extension 7586. Today is also a day full of athletic events where you’ll have plenty of opportunities to come cheer on Ramapo teams! Women’s Basketball will play either a consolation game at 1pm or a championship game at 3pm, then the Women’s and Men’s Swimming teams will compete against University of Scranton at 7:30 pm. After a day of games, come relax with friends at College Programming Board’s Paint Your Own Pottery event in the Alumni Lounges at 9pm. Both the paint and the pottery items will be provided, so all you have to bring is your creativity! Items will be available for pick up about 1 week after the event because they need to be fired off campus.
But the fun doesn’t end with the weekend! Every Tuesday the College Programming Board presents the Tuesday Night Live Series. Each week features either a live performance by a comedian, musical artist, slam poet, spoken word artist or magician or an open mic night during which Ramapo students have the opportunity to showcase their talent. This week, comedian Kristen Becker will be performing at Ramapo. Becker, who also happens to be an out lesbian, has an unapologetic sense of humor and wins over gay and straight audiences alike with her southern charm and huge personality. When she’s not touring, Becker packs Buffalo comedy clubs and hosts a monthly Stand Up-Blast Off comedy event where her comedy troupe, Dykes of Hazard, performs for a huge audience. To check out Kristen’s routine, watch this video.
