FYS Class:
Class of: 2029
Major/Minor: Nursing
Resident/Commuter: Resident
Favorite Class: Intro to Psychology is my favorite class because the lectures are really interesting and keep me engaged. I like how the material connects to real life, especially when it explains why people think and act the way they do. It’s made me more aware of myself and others, which I find really valuable.
Favorite Place on Campus: My favorite place on campus is the library because it provides a calm environment where I can study, whether I’m by myself or working with a group. I also like that there’s Starbucks in it, which is convenient for grabbing a quick snack or drink while I study.
Clubs/Organizations: Some organizations I’m most involved in are Alpha Kappa Psi (AKPsi) and the Nursing Student Organization (NSO). Through AKPsi, I’ve gained a strong sense of community with the brothers, and it’s helped me grow a lot both professionally and in my confidence by teaching skills I’ll need in the real world. In NSO, I’m able to connect with other nursing majors, especially upperclassmen who have given me valuable advice that I can use as I continue moving forward at Ramapo.
Future Plans: In the future, I plan to stay involved in the current clubs I’m a part of and take on leadership roles that support my professional growth. As a nursing major, I want to build strong connections in the healthcare field to help me secure internships or externships in hospitals during the summer. I also plan to become a substitute teacher once I obtain my certification so I can gain experience working during academic breaks while continuing to develop my skills and experience.
Favorite Inspirational Quote: “Everything happens for a reason.”
Advice for First-Year Students: My advice for first-year students is to get involved early and step out of your comfort zone. Join clubs, meet new people, and take advantage of opportunities on campus. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it and try to stay organized so you don’t get overwhelmed.
