FYS Class:
Class of: 2029
Major/Minor: Philosophy with a Minor in Sociology
Resident/Commuter: Resident
Favorite Class: Arts & Activism INTD101 with Professor Weissman. For me, Arts & Activism was the perfect interdisciplinary course that combined philosophy, modern social topics, history, activism, and art.
Throughout the course we learned about different activists who used varying forms of art as their creative medium to express their ideas, protest, and create change on contemporary issues ranging from racial & gender inequalities, climate change, political conflicts, and more.
Furthermore, throughout the semester we had our own personal art projects to create as well! Some of my favorite memories of the class were when we presented our projects using different art mediums to create a piece that comments on a present-day issue.
Favorite Place on Campus: A-Wing! Most of, if not all, of my Philosophy classes are in A-wing, so that part of campus holds a lot of memories for me.
Clubs/Organizations: Wrestling Club! Also the soon to be established Philosophy Club.
Future Plans: My end goal is to become a pediatrician, so taking the MCAT and going to Medical School are a part of my future plans. Leading up to these goals, I hope to study abroad and gain internships/jobs pertaining to my future line of work.
Favorite Inspirational Quote: Do what you love in a way that helps the world.
Advice for First-Year Students: I aspire to be involved in education and introduce/teach philosophy curriculum at the high-school level! I believe that in the direction the world is going with technology, the subject will be important now more than ever. I also plan to continue my personal projects as a musician and to continue decorating my time here with art to inspire others!
