Digital Accessibility Workshop: Spring Cleaning PDFs

April 14 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDT

Get ready for some digital spring cleaning! The Web Team is hosting a specialized online workshop to address PDFs and help you prepare for the April 2026 Digital Accessibility mandate.

This session provides a balanced framework for auditing PDFs in your WordPress media library. We will leverage usage data to spot quick wins for cleanup, while ensuring you keep highly relevant or required files that remain critical to your department’s operations.

Pro-Tip: WordPress users, please ensure you can log into your dashboard prior to the session!

In this workshop, you will learn:

  • Utilizing the Orphan Files Tool: Instantly scan your subsite to find “orphan” PDFs (files that aren’t linked anywhere) and clear out digital clutter.
  • The “Keep or Archive” Framework: Learn the ADA Title II criteria to decide which files can be moved to a “Designated Archive” vs. what must be remediated.
  • Inventory & Audit: Build a “Compliance Roadmap” by cataloging your files into a master spreadsheet to track exactly what needs to be deleted, archived, or fixed.

Note: This workshop is focused on identifying and auditing files, not on PDF remediation. We will, however, provide guidance for the files you decide to keep and need to make ADA compliant.

Featured Guest

Robert Josic, OEC Technologies Manager, will introduce the Orphan Files Tool to help you quickly “prune” your library, significantly reducing the number of files requiring manual remediation.
