Thursday, April 16th at 3:30 pm cheer on the Baseball team as they compete against Kean University! Go Roadrunners! At 6:30 pm, Commuter Affairs and the Student Government Association will be holding a Drive-In Movie event in the Main Lots where they will be screening the hit animated film Big Hero 6! For those who want to stay in their vehicles, there will even be an option to tune into a radio station to get audio for the film from your car stereo. Popcorn will also be served! Finally that night stop by Friends Hall at 10 pm for Country Line Dancing, sponsored by the College Programming Board, where professional country line dancers will be giving a guided lesson on this dance form.
Friday, April 17th join the Women’s Center, Ramapo Pride, and the College Programming Board for a memorable night of drag, dining, and dancing! At 7:00pm the festivities begin with a hilarious drag show performance by the Screaming Queens. Pride Prom immediately follows the drag show- the theme for 2015 is “Queers in OUTerspace.” This annual semi-formal dance is designed to provide a safe and affirming atmosphere for all members of the Queer community. Dinner will be provided and there are some great prizes up for grabs, including a smart TV with a 1 year subscription to Netflix! All are welcome- dress to impress!
Saturday, April 18th support Ramapo’s athletic teams at the various games throughout the day!
Baseball v. The College of New Jersey at 11:30 am
Men’s Tennis v. Albertus Magnus College at 1 pm
Softball v. Montclair State University at 1pm
Women’s Lacrosse v. Rowan University at 1 pm
That night, the College Programming Board will be hosting a Paint Night with Mocktails at 10 pm in Alumni Lounges! Come enjoy delicious mocktails as you paint pottery and canvas with friends! There will also be a painting teacher present to help students with their work.
But the fun doesn’t end with the weekend! This Tuesday, April 21st at 9:30 pm in H-wing auditorium the College Programming Board and the Ramapo Music Club will be hosting the Rammy Awards! Come out for a night of sonic delight as they recognize and award the amazingly talented student artists of Ramapo College of New Jersey! Hosts will be Cara Daniello, Jay J. Scoopz, and Lance Burningstone, and the event will feature free food and live performances. Students are also encouraged to dress up if they would like! Thursday, April 9th at 7 pm support the Men’s Volleyball team as they compete against #3 New Jersey City University as part of the Skyline Conference Tournament! Go Roadrunners! Later that night, join the College Programming Board at 10 pm in the Bradley Center and Auxiliary Gym for their #TBT Elementary School Night! For the first part of the event enjoy throwback games in the Bradley Center game rooms, and then make your way to the Auxiliary Gym for even more fun! There will be capture the flag, dodgeball, and Bop-It and Skip-It competitions! Winners of the competitions will receive gift cards, and there will be door prizes raffled off. Delicious food and beverages will also be served, including a throwback candy bar. Don’t miss out!
Friday, April 10th the Civic and Community Engagement Center will host their bi-weekly service trip to House on the Hill. House on a Hill is a day care center in Goshen, NY that works specifically with children from immigrant families. Volunteers will work with the children and help the teachers. Transportation is provided! If you plan to use your own transportation, please ensure that you arrive on-time, and please email ccec@ramapo.edu indicating that you intend to use your own transportation. Students should arrive at the Bradley Center bus stop at 8:15 AM and get back to Ramapo around 1:00 PM. That afternoon at 3:30 pm, the Baseball team will be playing Rutgers-Newark. Finally at 6pm stop by the Linden Hall Area Program Ramafair at 6 pm on the Laurel Courts. There will be delicious fair foods, games, prizes and more! At 7:30 pm at the event, the College Programming Board will be serving frozen yogurt and decorating cupcakes! In the event of rain, Ramafair will be moved to the Alumni Lounges.
Saturday, April 11th at 9:30 am join the Civic and Community Engagement Center for their weekly service trip to Teaneck, NJ for tutoring! They will be focusing on subjects such as Math, Language Arts, Social Studies and Arts & Crafts. No experience in tutoring is necessary. This project is great for students seeking CEC credit and for those in the process of receiving their teaching certification! That afternoon the Women’s Lacrosse team will play Rutgers-Camden at 1 pm and the Women’s Soccer team will play in an Alumni Game at 3:30 pm, so be sure to come out and support athletics! That night at 10 pm in Friends Hall, the College Programming Board will be holding a Taste of Mahwah event where students can come and taste a variety of delicious foods and cuisines from local businesses! After tastings, everyone will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite cuisines.
Sunday April 12th cheer on the Women’s Lacrosse team as they compete against The College of Old Westbury at 1 pm. Later at 3 pm, join the Student Government Association for their 5k Run with Color event starting at the Arch. Registration is $15 for students at RRC and online, and $20 for alumni/faculty and staff/non-students. You may also register on-site at the event. All proceeds will go to the Ramapo College Annual Fund, and all participants will receive a free pair of sunglasses and a T-shirt. For more information, visit www.ramapo.edu/ColorRun.

Each week features either a live performance by a comedian, musical artist, slam poet, spoken word artist or magician or an open mic night during which Ramapo students have the opportunity to showcase their talent. This Tuesday, April 14th KC Arora will be performing at Ramapo! In KC’s comedy routine he shares his hilarious insights on being first generation Indian-American while navigating the ins and outs of relationships with women and the internet. This event is sponsored by the Pre-Med club, Biology club, and Ramapo First Responders.
Friday, April 3rd the Softball team will be playing Rowan University at 2 pm and again at 4 pm. Also at 2 pm, the Men and Women’s Track Teams will be participating in the Roadrunner Invitational, which will continue on Saturday at 10 am. That night kicks off the College Programming Board’s movie weekend! At 10 pm in H-wing auditorium, they will be screening the Oscar-nominated film The Imitation Game. Here is your chance to catch this incredible film if you missed it in theaters!

Later at 10 pm, the College Programming Board continues their movie weekend with a screening of Unbroken in the H-wing auditorium.

Thursday, March 26th from 6 pm to 9 pm in the H-wing auditorium SGA and the College Programming Board will be holding auditions to find an opener for the Outdoor Concert! All those interested in performing should attend! The concert is taking place on May 1st at 7 pm in the Bandshell. Other auditions will be held on March 27th, March 30th, and March 31st also from 6 to 9 pm in the H-wing auditorium. Later that night, the College Programming Board and the Geocaching Club will be hosting an Egg Hunt and Dyeing event at 10 pm in Friends Hall! The egg hunt will take place around the academic buildings, and teams of up to 5 people can participate! There will also be basket decorating, and then egg dyeing at 11 pm. The winners will receive a big prize basket with gift cards, candy, and more! But there will be delicious treats for everyone to enjoy. Don’t miss out!

Just like at the theme park, the event will be very much like a global food festival, featuring delicious cuisines from around the world for you to try!

This Tuesday, March 31st Leighann Lord will be performing at Ramapo. Leighann is a comedian who has performed around the country and on television. Her routine is smart and engaging with topics including current events, politics, family, marriage and more. She has been seen on NBC, BBC, Comedy Central, and many other TV shows! Thursday, March 12th the Men’s Volleyball team will be playing Rutgers-Newark at 6 pm and then Sarah Lawrence College at 8 pm, both in the Bradley Center. Go Roadrunners! Also at 8 pm is a screening of the documentary film Girl Rising in the Laurel Hall Screening Room, sponsored by the Women’s Center. It tells the stories of nine girls from developing countries who overcome great obstacles to achieve an education and pursue their dreams. Don’t miss this inspiring film! Finally at 9 pm in Friends Hall is the Rocky Horror Picture Show, co-sponsored by Ramapo Film Society, RCTV, AYO Theater Honor Society, and the College Programming Board. This will be a shadow cast performance, in which students perform the show live in front of the film as it is playing! It is an experience you won’t soon forget!

Thursday, March 5th join the Civic and Community Engagement Center and the Student Leadership Program Committee for their Creative Leadership Workshop at 1 pm in A-108. Assistant Residence Director for the College Park Apartments, Asal Salah, will provide creative leadership techniques. As part of the Leadership Workshop Series, this is a great opportunity to become a more effective leader. If you have any questions, please email bmartin1@ramapo.edu. At 5 pm, stop by the Women’s Center for a discussion of the film Fight Club! Students will talk about the dominant themes and symbolism in the film and its relevance in today’s world. A screening of the film will take place the day before in 8 pm in Laurel Screening Room. Later the College Programming Board will host a Movie Night at 10 pm in the H-wing auditorium! They will be screening the Oscar-nominated movie Gone Girl featuring Ben Affleck and Best Actress in a Leading Role nominee Rosamund Pike! If you missed it in theaters, here’s your chance to catch this blockbuster movie with friends!

This year’s spring concert features New Politics and MKTO, and a Ramapo Alumni opener- Pros and Icons! Tickets can still be purchased online through the Ramapo website, at Roadrunner Central, and in Residence Hall offices, so get them before they sell out! Pricing is $15 for the first student ticket and $20 for the second ticket, or for non-Ramapo students. Doors will open at 7pm and there will be a security screening upon arrival (no large bags/backpacks or lighters). The doors will close at 8:30 pm, and no one will be allowed entry after. Friday, February 27th at 8 am join the Civic and Community Engagement Center for their service trip to House on a Hill in Goshen, NY. House on the Hill is a day care center that works specifically with children from immigrant families. Volunteers will have the opportunity to spend a day working with these children and assisting teachers in their classrooms with various activities. Make sure to take advantage of this learning experience and potential CEC opportunity! Later that night, get ready to enjoy great music at the Indie Music Festival at 10pm in the Pavilion. Tickets are $5 for students with Ramapo ID. Later that night, the College Programming Board is hosting the Indie Movie Festival at 10 pm in the H-Wing Auditorium. They will be screening the films Boyhood and The Spectacular Now. If you missed these hit movies in theaters, be sure to stop by!

Their performance style is very laid back, and tea will be served at the event to enforce the relaxed, coffee house feel. Thursday, February 19th tickets for Chicago go on sale at Roadrunner Central at 8 a.m. The date of the trip is March 12th and the bus leaves campus at 4:30 p.m. Tickets prices are $40 for the first ticket and $50 for the second, with a 2 ticket purchase maximum. That evening, Equity and Diversity Life is hosting a Past and Present event at 5p.m in the Alumni Lounges. This event will consist of a discussion about past and present Black leadership in America and how it has evolved and changed over the years. This will be a great learning experience and discussion forum opportunity for students and faculty alike! Finally, head to J. Lee’s at 10 pm for the Karaoke for a Cause event co-sponsored by the College Programming Board and Relay for Life. Come sing your favorite tunes with friends to support a great cause and learn more about the Relay for Life event happening on March 6th at 7 pm in the Bradley Center. Be sure to bring singles to support Relay’s organization and help multiply the fun! Don’t miss out!
Friday, February 20th the annual African Ancestry Month Fashion Show is happening at 8 p.m. in the Bradley Center! Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students, $12 for guests, and $5 for just the after party. They can be purchased ahead of time at Roadrunner Central or at the door the night of the show. This year’s show theme is Vintage Vogue featuring unique retro pieces from three different designers, incredible music from DJ Dark Kent, and special guest Yaris Sanchez as host! The runway show is followed by an after party in Friends Hall with music and dancing. Keep an eye out for additional updates on the Vintage Vogue event page on Facebook and the official Twitter page @rcnjfashion2015!

Join Relay for Life and the College Programming Board on Thursday, February 12th for their event “Crafting for a Cure” at 10 pm in the Pavilion. Students will have the opportunity to color, paint, glue and more as they learn about Relay for Life’s mission and their upcoming event on March 6th. Come out and support a great cause!
February 13th at 10 pm, the College Programming Board is holding their annual Stuff a Plush event at 10 pm in Alumni Lounges. Students will be allowed to choose the animal of their choice and stuff it themselves to create their very own furry friend! Don’t miss out!
Share the love this Valentine’s Day by volunteering with the CCEC on their Teaneck Tutoring trip on February 14th at 9:30 am! They will be focusing on subjects such as Math, Language Arts, Social Studies and Arts & Crafts. No experience in tutoring is necessary. This project is great for students seeking CEC credit and for those in the process of receiving their teaching certification! Later that night, head to the Pavilion at 10 pm for a Dinner and a Movie night hosted by the College Programming Board! Students will be served dinner buffet style as they sit back and relax as they watch the hit comedy film Valentine’s Day! The dinner buffet will feature bread rolls, salad, chicken parmesan, pasta, vegetables, and chocolate fondue for dessert!

This Tuesday, February 17th, Brian O’Sullivan will be performing on campus! Brian is a singing comedian from Los Angeles who uses clever lyrics and catchy tunes to deliver his punchlines! Inspired by artists “Weird Al” Yankovic, Stephen Lynch, and The Bloodhound Gang and compared to artists like Bo Burnham, O’Sullivan is truly a unique and entertaining performer. His lyrics and jokes are incredibly creative, and Brian has a special niche for making fun of pop culture from a college student’s perspective. This is a musical comedy show you won’t want to miss! Thursday, February 5th join the College Programming Board at 10 pm in Friends Hall for their Human Bowling event! It will feature two large inflatables. In one you are a human bowling ball propelling yourself down the alley to knock down inflatable pins. In the other, you race a competitor in a bungee run to see who can place their flag the farthest down the path. Try one, try both, either way it will be a blast! Don’t miss out on this night of inflatable fun!
Friday, February 6th come to the Mackin and Bischoff Hall Area Program “Ramacon”! It will be Ramapo’s own little Comic Con featuring tons of different activities representing Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Nintendo, Capcom, and more. There will be live action role playing (LARPing), a Lego building competition, a cosplay competition, a photo booth, crafts, a Super Smash Bros Brawl competition, and more! You’ll also have the chance to win an Apple TV, Keurig, or Wii U! Food options will include pizza, subs, Chicken and Rib Crib, and frozen yogurt. This event is co-sponsored by Dumbledore’s Army and the College Programming Board.
