Ramapo College – India: Development and Sustainability – Bangalore, India (spring 2015)

Hello! My name is Olivia Dunn and I am a senior majoring in Law and Society with a minor in Environmental Studies.  During my junior year, spring semester 2015, I studied abroad through Ramapo’s faculty-led South India Program.  I also interned abroad at a law firm in Frankfurt, Germany during summer session 2015.  Both were amazing, eye-opening experiences that really changed my perspective of the world and of myself.  Although my time in Frankfurt was everything I could’ve dreamed it would be, it was my semester in India that really challenged me and helped me grow as a person.  While abroad in India, I was able to immerse myself in a very new and rich culture.  For my independent research during the India program, I was able to work with a local animal rights group to improve the living conditions of captive elephants.  As an animal lover, this was a once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget.  I became a Global Roadrunner to emphasize to my peers how important it is to study abroad.  Studying abroad challenges you in ways a college classroom never will.  I have learned so much about myself through living abroad in both Bangalore, India and Frankfurt, Germany and would do it again in a heartbeat.
