(MAHWAH, NJ) – Ramapo College of New Jersey is again one of the best colleges and universities in the Northeast according to The Princeton Review. The New York City-based education services company selected the school as one of 226 institutions it recommends in its “Best in the Northeast” section on its PrincetonReview.com feature “2014 Best Colleges Region by Region.”

Ramapo College was selected by The Princeton Review based on data collected from several hundred schools in each region, visits to schools, student surveys and the opinions of independent and high school-based college advisors. Regional best colleges represent a range of institutions that vary by size, selectivity, character and locale. In total, only 643 schools, about 25 percent of the nation’s four-year colleges, earned a designation as a “regional best” school.

The Princeton Review asks students to rate their own schools on several issues – from the accessibility of their professors to quality of campus food – and answer questions about themselves, their fellow students and campus life.

In the surveys, Ramapo students praised the school for “having a small student to faculty ratio” which helps foster “a liberal arts education with individualized attention,” “the emphasis they place on outside learning and experience” and “professors that are aware of how to teach, motivate and inspire, instead of simply lecturing.” The business school and nursing program received overwhelming praise and were described as both “amazing” and “extraordinary.” Ramapo also received positive recognition for its “beautiful scenery,” “fabulous dorms” and for being a “small, unique, well organized and affordable school.”

Ramapo College of New Jersey is a comprehensive institution of higher education dedicated to the promotion of teaching and learning within a strong liberal arts based curriculum, thus earning the designation by the New Jersey State Legislature as “New Jersey’s Liberal Arts College.”
