Haiti: Ramapo Cares

The faculty, staff and students committed to the Haiti Scholarship Fund measure success two students at a time.  In the Fall 2011 semester, Ramapo College welcomed two students from Haiti to campus.  Clifford R. Denis ’15, an Engineering Physics major and Roselaure Charles ’15,  a Digital Film Making major, were each awarded full, four-year scholarships.

Your Gift Ensures a True College Experience

Your gift is a necessary and vital component in paying for everything required by students living on campus.  Ramapo College waives all tuition and fees, however, dorm room, meals, books, warm clothing and a minimal amount of spending money is also needed for each student. The cost per year is approximately $25,000 for two students to provide these other essentials. In essence, the College adopted the students when they arrived on campus and the campus community feels an extreme responsibility to them.

A Community At Work

Throughout the year, members of the Haiti Scholarship Fund Committee host fundraising events to help support the students and also to remind everyone that rebuilding Haiti takes one brick, one body and one mind at a time.

“The Scholarship means a lot to me because it gives me the opportunity to learn Digital Filmmaking at Ramapo College for four years. Upon completion of my bachelor’s degree I can go back to my country as a professional to share my knowledge and help Haiti rebuild.”
Roselaure Charles ‘15

“My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. This scholarship put me on the path of achieving my goal and helping my country.”
Clifford R. Denis ‘15
