A MESSAGE FROM THE STUDENT SUCCESS TEAM

Welcome to Ramapo College! We are so glad that you have chosen Ramapo and are excited to welcome you to our Roadrunner community. A week’s worth of events – including the Arching tradition, Tuesday Night Live, Joe Trivia and more –have been planned to help you adjust to life at Ramapo. We wish you the best of luck during the spring semester! Important Reminders

  • Students need to have their student IDs with them at all times. IDs are needed for entrance into the dining halls and will be swiped before entering most events during Winter Welcome.
  • Volunteers will be wearing “Keep Calm & Ask Me About Ramapo ” shirts. Feel free to stop and ask questions at any point.

Day One: Monday, January 21, 2019

New Student Assembly: 3:45pm–4:15pm
Location: Friends Hall, SC 219
Students and family members receive an official welcome to Ramapo, including remarks from Christopher Romano, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs; Joseph Connell, Assistant Vice President of Student Success, and Stephan Lally, Student Government Association President.

Arching Ceremony: 4:15pm–4:45pm
Location: Archway
Join us for this Ramapo College tradition as families line up along Mansion Road to cheer on students as they walk through the Arch and shake hands with a member of the President’s cabinet. On the eve of graduation, students will march down through the Arch signifying the completion of their undergraduate experience. Be sure to capture this memory and take plenty of pictures using our Winter Welcome Snapchat geotag!  Students and their families are welcome to warm up with coffee and tea in the second floor of the Student Center following the ceremony.
This concludes the family portion of Winter Welcome. Students and families should say their goodbyes prior to students heading to other required programming and dinner. 

Choices & Consequences: 4:45pm–5:30pm
Location: Friends Hall, SC 219
This interactive workshop provides you with information that will help you make informed decisions and minimize negative consequences should you choose to drink alcohol.

Zero Shades of Gray: 5:30pm–6:15pm
Location: Friends Hall, SC 219
This workshop will give you important information about how you can support a safe campus environment, free from sexual assault by knowing your rights and responsibilities. We’ll define “affirmative consent”, explore how affirmative consent is given (and how it’s not given), and how you can make our campus safer for everyone.
All students are required to attend this presentation.

Dinner & Trivia: 6:15pm–7:30pm

Location: Birch Tree Inn (Commuter students will be provided meal passes at check-in.)
Come join your fellow transfer students for dinner while playing Joe Trivia!  This is a great way to meet your peers, win prizes, and get a taste of what the dining halls have to offer!

Bischoff Open House: 7:30pm–10:00pm
Location: Bischoff Hall 1st floor lounge
Come enjoy cookies and games and meet your fellow transfer residents!  Brought to you by Transfer Connection.

Residence Life Floor Meetings: 10:00pm 

Location: Your Residence Hall
Meet with your Resident Assistant and learn the ins and outs of campus living.

Day Two: Tuesday, January 22, 2019

Transfer Treats: 7:30am–9:30am and 1:30pm–3:30pm 

Location: Fishbowl, 2nd Floor Building C
Warm up on your way to class with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and a tasty treat!

Finding Your Way: 7:45am, 9:40am, 11:35am, 1:30pm, and 3:25pm 

Location: Academic Complex, 2nd Floor Stairwells

Tuesday Night Live: Hypnotist!: 10:00pm-12:00am

Location: Friends Hall
The College Programming Board (CPB) will be welcoming a hypnotist/comedian onto campus to host a fun event for all students and new Roadrunners.

Day Three: Wednesday, January 23, 2019

Finding Your Way: 7:45am, 8:15am, 9:40am, and 4:25pm 

Location: Academic Complex, 2nd Floor Stairwells
Need help finding a classroom or an office? Find one of our student leaders on the 2nd floor of the Academic Buildings and they can help direct you!

Transfer Student Clothing Swap: 12:00pm-1:00pm

Location: Trustees Pavilion
The Dean of Students, Melissa Van Der Wall, is hosting a clothing swap for transfer students. Here is a way to update your wardrobe and acquire new items as a Ramapo Roadrunner.  Bring 1 or 2 items from your previous college and swap them for Ramapo gear.  All of the clothing received will be donated to The Good Will store.  This event is free, open to Spring 2019 transfer students, and pizza will be served.

Student Involvement Fair: 2:30pm-4:30pm
Location: Bradley Center, Auxiliary Gym
Come check out over 100 of Ramapo’s clubs and organizations at the Student Involvement Fair! This is a great way to meet new people and get involved on campus!

Roadrunner Rally: 4:30-5:30pm
Location: Bradley Center
Join the Center for Student Involvement and Ramapo Athletics for free food, fun and prizes to kick off a great spring semester!

The College Programming Board (CPB) will be having a french fry bar for students to enjoy.

Painting & Mocktails: 10:00pm-12:00am

Location: Trustees Pavilion
CPB will be hosting a relaxing painting and mocktails night that includes an instructor, supplies and mocktails!
