The talk was held in New York City and it was an international event co-sponsored by the German Mathematical Society. This year Math Club also held a panel discussion with the panelists being local math teachers who spoke on a variety of topics such as: how to apply for jobs, how to choose the right district, the tenure system, daily life as a teacher, etc.\u00a0 The club held its faculty vs. students kickball game at the end of the academic year.<\/li>\n<li>Two teams, of 3 Ramapo students each, participated in the\u00a0<strong>New Jersey Undergraduate Mathematics Competition<\/strong>\u00a0held at the Garden State Undergraduate Mathematics Conference. The trip was organized by the RCNJ chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon. They addressed the frequently asked question by mathematics majors of &#8220;What can a mathematics majors do besides teaching&#8221; and gave career advice.\u00a0 Dr. J. Gillespie and Dr. D. McFeron presented on applying for and attending graduate schools in mathematics. At the charter ceremony combined with an induction ceremony, 10 students and 4 faculty members were inducted to the society. It organized a community service of tutoring upper level mathematics courses at Ramapo College and an off-campus community service consisting of a discussion panel at Mahwah High School on &#8220;Majoring in Mathematics&#8221;. This year&#8217;s Math Club&#8217;s invited speakers were: Ramapo mathematics alumni (Jessica Crane, Kevin Olson) currently employed by Prudential, four high school mathematics teachers, Ramapo mathematics alumnus (Atanas Frengov) currently employed by Google. They addressed a frequently asked question by mathematics majors of &#8220;What can a mathematics majors do besides teaching&#8221; and gave career advice. Two other invited speakers, Dr. Faranak Pahlevani and Dr. Huseyin Yuce gave talks on differential equations. Kuplinski) and Zulma Valcarcel (advisor: Dr. Weng) presented the results of their\u00a0<strong>undergraduate student research<\/strong>\u00a0at the Ramapo&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/tas\/symposium\/\">Student Research Symposium.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<strong>Math Barbecue<\/strong>\u00a0for Math Majors and Faculty took place in May 2007 &#8211; courtesy of Dr. Weng.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<strong>Dinner for Math Majors and Math Alumni\u00a0<\/strong>took place in March 2007. (organized by the mathematics faculty, co-sponsored by the Dean of Students and Alumni office). The Alumni were happy to be back and gave some useful career advice to the current mathematics majors.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Math Club\u00a0<\/strong>among its activities organized a trip to the MAA-NJ mathematics conference in Fall 2006 and organized tutoring mathematics at a local community center as well as on campus.\u00a0 It also hosted two guest speakers. Dr. Jerry Ianni gave a talk on\u00a0 &#8220;Mathematics and Music&#8221;.
