How does studying abroad fit with this major?<\/h4>\n

Studying international business abroad provides an excellent opportunity to experience world travel and develop people skills that are essential to working in the field of international business.\u00a0 Be prepared to learn a system different from your own in both theory and practice. Every country conducts business a little different; by studying abroad you will learn how to adapt your business model and mind set to any country and culture.<\/p>\n

Studying International Business abroad will help you develop observational skills that will greatly improve your sensitivity to different cultures and people. It will also allow you to learn the practice of observing and adapting to cultural customs different from your own.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s always important to abide by the local customs when conducting business in a foreign country instead of following a model associated within your country. Establishing a personal relationship with your business partners is crucial to successful business dealings, and will demonstrate your understanding and appreciation for their culture as well as your ability to interact cross-culturally.<\/p>\n

\u201cCHINA: Culture, Business & Economics\u201d<\/b><\/h3>\n
4 credit, Spring Program<\/i><\/b><\/h5>\n

The objective of this study abroad program (IBUS 322) is to introduce students to fundamental aspects of the business environment & China. This trip offers a comprehensive overview of the economic and political environmental in China as well as an introduction to Chinese civilization, society & culture.
\nThis program fulfills international experience requirement of the international business major and minor as well as the international studies major.<\/p>\n

Students will reside and visit two main locations: Shanghai and Beijing, two major cities on China’s coastline. In each location, visits and guest lectures will allow the students to get first-hand contact and converse with members of the local and international business communities, officials, as well as Chinese students and academics.<\/p>\n

Students will appreciate the specificity of the economic, social, cultural and political environment of China. Students will understand how China’s recent economic and political history has shaped its society and current business environment for domestic and foreign firms; how foreign multinationals can negotiate in this difficult environment; as well as the opportunities and challenges for foreign firms in selected Chinese service and technology-intensive industries.<\/p>\n

This course (IBUS 315) is designed to provide an understanding of global perspectives by exploring and experiencing Asian countries, and more specifically, Japan. The objective of this study abroad program (IBUS 337) is to introduce students to fundamental aspects of the business environment and culture in Latin America. This experience will demonstrate to students what a vibrant business environment exists in Latin America today. Latin America has been transformed over the past 30 years and nowhere is this more evident than in the prosperous market of Peru, a country whose economy almost doubled in size over the past ten years.<\/p>\n

The experience will also give students a sense of how regionally and globally integrated Latin America has become by looking at the strong trade and investment ties that Peru has forged with China, for example, over the past ten years. These strong ties represent both an opportunity and a risk to Peru, and these will be underscored during the visit.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
