The only exceptions are Nursing students, EOF students, and Environmental Science students, who are assigned to advisors in their respective programs.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"s2\"><\/a>Academic Advisors for Declared Students<\/h3>\n<p>Students who have declared their majors with over 32 earned credits are assigned to faculty academic advisors in their majors. To find the name of your faculty advisor, click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/myadvisor\/how-to-videos\/\">here<\/a> and follow the steps to run a degree evaluation.\u00a0 The name of your advisor can be found on your Connect network. However, a student can request to take more than the allotted 18 credits by applying for a credit overload. The student must have above a 3.0 GPA or be a graduating senior to be granted the credit overload. The credit overload request form can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/registrar\/credit-overload-request-form\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"s4\"><\/a>Developmental Courses<\/h3>\n<p>According to national studies, about 75% of four-year colleges and universities offer remedial or developmental courses in one or more subjects (National Center for Educational Statistics, 1996).<\/p>\n<p>Developmental courses in general are calculated towards the student\u2019s grade point average. Please note that this policy differs from many other New Jersey colleges, which do not allow developmental courses to be weighed in determining a grade point average.<\/p>\n<p>Our program for incoming first-years provides students the opportunity to strengthen their reading, writing, math and communication skills prior to the start of their first semester at Ramapo. Further enrollment in developmental courses during the school year may be required based on summer course placement, the course performance, and the recommendation of faculty. All developmental courses are developed by the Center for Reading and Writing and the Math Department.<\/p>\n<p>For a full <strong>tutoring<\/strong> schedule and FAQs please visit:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/crw\/\">https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/crw\/<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"s5\"><\/a>Graduation<\/h3>\n<p>Students must complete a minimum of 128 graduation credits to be eligible for a degree. (Transfer students should note all residency requirements as outlined in this Catalog.) Identical courses (same course identification number) taken more than one time count only once as graduation credit. Transfer students should refer to their transfer evaluations to ensure they do not repeat a course for which credit has been received. Courses numbered below 100 (developmental courses) do not count toward the graduation credit requirement.<\/p>\n<p>Students must have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as well as a 2.0 GPA in their major, second major, and\/or minor(s) to be eligible for a degree. Some majors may require a higher GPA. All courses taken at Ramapo College (including those numbered below 100) apply to the GPA, whether the course counts for graduation credit or not. Transferred course work does not count in the GPA at Ramapo College.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"s6\"><\/a>Incomplete Grades<\/h3>\n<p>Given in exceptional circumstances when approved by the instructor and when requested by a student who has satisfactorily completed at least two-thirds of course requirements prior to the end of a term, for reasons of illness or other emergency. When the work is completed by the date indicated on the academic calendar, the grade assigned replaces the I. If work is not satisfactorily completed by the date indicated in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/academic-calendars\/\">Academic Calendar<\/a>, the grade is changed to F.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"s7\"><\/a>Off-Campus Study<\/h3>\n<p>Matriculated students who wish to earn credits at another accredited institution for transfer back to Ramapo must complete an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/studentsuccess\/off-campus-study-request\/\"><em>Off-Campus Study<\/em> request form<\/a> prior to taking the course(s). This form verifies that the course(s) will be accepted by Ramapo and provides a guide as to how the credits can be applied to Ramapo requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Students with 64 or less credit hours may request permission to transfer in courses from any two- or four-year accredited institution of higher education. Students who have earned 65 or more credit hours may request to take and transfer in courses from only an accredited four-year institution of higher education. Students should also note that the final 32 credits of their degree programs must be Ramapo College courses. The maximum number of transfer credits from a two-year school is 70 and the maximum from a 4-year school is 80.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"s8\"><\/a>Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)<\/h3>\n<p>The Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) is for students with life experience who would like to gain college credit by presenting a portfolio of accomplishments in a particular subject area. If you would like more information or are interested in applying for the PLA program, please contact Patricia Laprey; E-mail: <a href=\"mailto:plaprey@ramapo.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">plaprey@ramapo.edu<\/a>; Office: ASB-424; Phone: (201) 684-7388.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"s9\"><\/a>Repeat Course (RC) Grade Option<\/h3>\n<p>An undergraduate student may repeat a failed course or a course they passed and apply for the Repeat Course option. The student should consult with his\/her advisor before applying for the Repeat Course option. All Repeat Courses must be requested by the time a student applies for graduation following the graduation application deadline posted on the Academic Calendar.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> Students who have been notified that they are suspended or dismissed and wish to appeal their suspensions or dismissals must apply for all applicable Repeat Courses prior to submitting written appeals for immediate reinstatement. Students who accept their suspensions or dismissals or who are later notified that the Dean did not accept their appeals may not apply for any Repeat Courses until such time as they regain probationary status. Suspended students who serve their suspension terms and later apply successfully for reinstatement or readmission on probationary status may again use the Repeat Course option.<\/p>\n<table class=\"table table-hover table-striped table-bordered\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>If a student was found responsible for violating the College\u2019s Academic Integrity Policy in a course, then the course is ineligible for a Repeat Course option.
