{"id":11,"date":"2013-06-25T07:25:33","date_gmt":"2013-06-25T11:25:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/bursar\/deposits\/"},"modified":"2026-03-18T14:54:00","modified_gmt":"2026-03-18T18:54:00","slug":"deposits","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/student-accounts\/deposits\/","title":{"rendered":"Deposits \/ Refunds"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Deposits<\/h3>\n<p>The information below pertains to making both Admissions and housing deposits for new or continuing students.<\/p>\n<div class=\"accordions\">\n<div class=\"item\"><p class=\"question\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-plus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-minus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span> Undergraduate New Students Admissions and Housing Deposits<\/p><div>\n<p>To reserve a place in the Fall\u00a0class and request on-campus housing, you must submit your deposit. You may submit your deposit electronically or by postal mail.<\/p>\n<p>If you wish to submit your deposit by\u00a0<strong>postal mail<\/strong>, simply return the Acceptance Card found in your admission packet to the Office of Admissions. Include a check or money order for $800 if you will be living on campus or a check or money order for $600 if you will be commuting.<\/p>\n<p>If you wish to submit your deposit electronically, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/paymydeposit\">www.ramapo.edu\/paymydeposit<\/a>.\u00a0It is important to follow (print) the directions found on the landing page before entering the payment portal.<\/p>\n<p>The deposit is credited toward the charges of your first semester of enrollment. If you wish to live on campus, this must be requested at the same time your deposit is submitted.<\/p>\n<p>Please be aware, while your admissions deposit portion ($600) is non-refundable, the housing deposit portion ($200) may be refundable if a written withdrawal request is received by the Office of Admissions by May 1. After that date the housing deposit is non-refundable.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"item\"><p class=\"question\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-plus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-minus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span> Undergraduate\/Graduate Current Resident Housing Deposits<\/p><div>\n<p><strong><em>Undergraduate Students<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In order to participate in the housing selection process, students are required to submit a <strong>non-refundable $500<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>housing deposit<\/strong> by February 2. All information regarding the housing selection process will be posted via the Residence Life webpage in March. <strong>Students, who do not submit their deposits by February 2, will not be eligible to participate in the online housing selection process.<\/strong><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Graduate Students<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Graduate students are required to submit a\u00a0<strong>non-refundable $500<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>housing deposit<\/strong> by February 2. Graduate Students do not participate in the housing selection process. In order to be considered for housing, a <b>$200<\/b> <b>non-refundable <\/b>housing deposit must be paid by cash or check to the Office of Student Accounts or electronically (credit card or ACH from your checking or savings account). Please include the Student ID Number on the front of the check or money order to insure proper crediting to the student\u2019s account.<\/strong> The Student ID Number is nine characters long, beginning with a capitol letter \u201cR\u201d. <strong>DO NOT MAIL CASH.<\/strong> Check or money order payments should be sent to:\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Ramapo College<br \/>\nOffice of Student Accounts<br \/>\n505 Ramapo Valley Road<br \/>\nMahwah, NJ 07430-1680<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>If you choose to pay <b><i>after<\/i><\/b> regular business hours, you can leave your check in the night deposit box outside the Office of Student Accounts, first-floor D-wing. <b>DO NOT LEAVE CASH<\/b><\/li>\n<li>If a bank returns a check for insufficient funds, student will be contacted to obtain permission to redeposit the check and a $15 charge will be assessed. If the check is returned a second time as unpayable, student will be contacted to obtain permissions to redeposit anda charge of $40 will be assessed and personal check payment privileges at the College will be revoked. This constitutes nonpayment of charges. Payment must then be made by cash, bank check, or money order within five working days of notice<i>. <b>Failure to correct the delinquency will result in deregistration<\/b><\/i><\/li>\n<li>Stopping payment of a check as a means of dropping\/withdrawing from classes does not relieve the student of registration charges.<b>The College reserves the right to change costs, dates and procedures at its discretion<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"divider\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/rcnjrd\/images\/icons\/ramapo-arch-icom_rule.png\" alt=\"Ramapo\" \/><\/div>\n<h4>Credit Card<\/h4>\n<p>The College contracts with a third party, Pay Path, to process credit card payments. Online processing of credit cards is managed in-house. Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express is accepted. <b>A non-refundable service fee of 3.0% (minimum $3.00) is added by the servicer to the cardholder\u2019s payment.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>NOTE: The Office of Student Accounts does not accept credit card payments by phone or in-person. Electronic payments can ONLY be made ONLINE.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Using this method requires that you have the student\u2019s Ramapo Email User Name and Ramapo Email Password.<\/p>\n<p><b>Housing Credit Card Step-by-Step Instructions<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Log into\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/experience.elluciancloud.com\/rconj\/\">RCNJ Experience<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Locate the Student Account Info card<\/li>\n<li>Click on\u00a0<b>Bill &amp; Payment Suite<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Click on the\u00a0<b>Deposits<\/b> tab at top of page<\/li>\n<li>Select the <b>Term<\/b> for which you are making your payment from the Select a Term drop-down menu. Then click the <b>Select<\/b> button<\/li>\n<li>Select the appropriate option from the Select a Deposit drop-down menu. Then click the <b>Select<\/b> button<\/li>\n<li>If the data is correct, click on the <b>Continue<\/b> button at the bottom of the page<\/li>\n<li>Select <b>Credit Card via PayPath<\/b> Payment Method drop-down menu. Then click the <b>Select<\/b> button<\/li>\n<li>If the data is correct, click on the <b>Continue<\/b> to <b>PayPath<\/b> button<\/li>\n<li>Read the service fee disclaimer on the <b>Welcome to Pay Path<\/b> Payment Service Screen, then click on the <b>Continue<\/b> button<\/li>\n<li>Verify Payment Amount then click on <b>Continue<\/b> button<\/li>\n<li>Enter all <b>Credit Card Billing Information<\/b> and click on <b>Continue<\/b> button<\/li>\n<li>All of the data you entered will be displayed, including the service fee amount. Then click the <b>Continue<\/b> button<\/li>\n<li>Enter <b>Bank Account Information, review your entries, <\/b>and then click on <b>Continue<\/b> button to <b>complete<\/b> your request<\/li>\n<li>Print the Payment Confirmation Page for your records<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>The College reserves the right to change costs, dates and procedures at its discretion.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<a id=refunds><\/a>\n<h3>Credit Balance Refunds and Withdrawal Refunds<\/h3>\n<p>The information below details policies, deadlines, and procedures for Withdrawal Refunds.\u00a0 Withdrawal refunds are credits applied to a student account for dropping or withdrawing from a course(s).<\/p>\n<p>Credit Balance Refunds are refunds issued to students due to an overpayment on the student account, whether from financial aid, an out-of-pocket payment, etc.\u00a0 These refunds are issued in the form of a check or direct deposit to a bank account.<\/p>\n<div class=\"accordions\">\n<div class=\"item\"><p class=\"question\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-plus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-minus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span> Withdrawal Refunds<\/p><div>\n<div class=\"infoBox col-sm-12 col-lg-12 \"><div class=\"boxContent\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><b>NOTE: Ramapo College offers a Tuition Protection Insurance Plan through GradGuard.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Students who officially drop or withdraw from any or all of their registered courses and\/or housing in compliance with the relevant policies, procedures, and deadlines of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/registrar\/\">Office of the Registrar<\/a> and\/or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/reslife\/\">Office of Residence Life<\/a> may be eligible for account adjustments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a class=\"btn\" title=\"Current Deadlines: Payments \/ Refunds \/ Waivers \/ Book Advances\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/registrar\/withdrawing-leave-of-absence\/\">To assist you with a withdraw, contact the Office of the Registrar<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Students who withdraw from any or all registered courses and\/or housing after College refund deadlines for any reason, including, but not limited to, <strong>Medical Leave of Absence<\/strong>, are <strong>not eligible for refunds or account adjustments<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Housing deposits are non-refundable<\/strong>. In addition, students who withdraw from housing will need to pay a new deposit if they reapply for on-campus housing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If a student incurs any charges after receiving a refund, the student is responsible for paying those charges.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Knowing and meeting deadlines for changes to courses or residence status is the responsibility of the student. The College is not responsible for publishing reminders or alerts related to deadlines for account adjustments. Credit balances from non-Title IV financial aid are subject to a $5.00 threshold. Unless otherwise specified by the student, the College will issue a paper check.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Paper Check Refund &#8211; <\/strong>Checks will be mailed to the student&#8217;s billing\/permanent address. <strong>Checks will not be mailed to campus mailboxes nor can checks be picked up in the Office of Student Accounts<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Holding Refunds &#8211;<\/strong> If a student is entitled to a refund in the fall term, they may elect to have the refund proceeds applied to the spring term.
