Favorite Class
While it is hard to choose just one class to pick as my favorite, one of the most interesting classes that I have taken so far was Immigration to America with Dr. Gronbeck-Tedesco. While everyone learns about immigration through Ellis Island in high school, not everyone is made aware of the hardships that non-European immigrants had to endure decades before the immigration boom in the early 20th century. I enjoyed this class because it opened my mind to the whole history of immigration in the United States, and not just immigration during the 20th century.

The class not only helped me develop my own views and opinions on the material, but I believe I also learned so much that I could not have learned in a different class. Additionally, Professor Root has expanded my knowledge about the many Organizations that aim to protect the rights of all human beings.

Favorite Class
My favorite class was Introduction to International Studies, which was taught by Prof. Root. The class taught me about the various issues different regions are facing today and the fact that the class was interesting helped me realize that this is a field where I want to pursue a career. The class talked about the different political, economical and cultural ideas and while it was all taught at a superficial level, it really helped me gain a newer perspective about the world.

Favorite Class
My favorite class is America Between the Wars with Carter Jones Meyer. As a history major, most of my classes relate to wars and other major conflicts, so it is really interesting to take a class that isn’t focused on wars. In this class we take a deep look at the culture of the time period and examine everything that was going on. We look at a variety of sources to form an interpretation on the time period, including primary source documents, films, advertisements, artwork, and much more, all of which makes for a very interesting and entertaining class.
