Kelley, Elaine J. Memorial Scholarship

Elaine “Lainey” J. Kelley was a Ramapo graduate of the Anisfield School of Nursing.  She went on to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. She spent the last seven years working in St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil, Indiana.

The scholarship was created by her friends and family in her memory after she died unexpectedly in October of 2015, an event triggered by a symptomless aneurysm.

Lainey earned her bachelor’s in Business from Rutgers University, N.J., and a Registered Nursing degree from Ramapo College, where she graduated as valedictorian, winning a standing ovation for her commencement speech.  She went on to Barry University in Florida, where most of her family had moved, to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

Lainey was responsible for resuscitating and saving the life of a total stranger who then became a dear friend.
