Morrow, Eugene Memorial Scholarship

Margaret V. Mullen has been actively involved on campus with the Friends of Ramapo and has audited numerous classes through the Friends Plus Program.  She is past president of the Friends of Ramapo and currently serves as the Chair of the Program Committee which plans events supporting student scholarships.  In addition, Margaret serves on the Grants Allocation Committee of the Board of Governors.

In 2015, Margaret established a memorial endowment to honor her friend, Eugene Morrow who passed away in 2012.  They grew up together in Manhattan.  “I was an only child and Eugene came from a large family,” said Margaret.  “When our mothers worked, my aunt cared for us, and we became dear friends.  He was like a little brother to me.”  Eugene was born and raised in Manhattan and had a life-long love of New York and all it had to offer.  With his wife Joan, he raised a daughter, Janine, and a son, Christian, who are now parents.

“Eugene embraced painting in mid-life and discovered a new world,” said Margaret.  “He was blessed with some of life’s greatest gifts: a generous heart, a creative mind, a loving family and many friends.  He was inspired by the natural beauty of the ocean and nature’s landscapes,” she added.  “He was an incredible, self-taught artist who found joy and serenity in painting.”
