The Fed is in the midst of \u201cnormalizing\u201d policy after the unprecedented changes of the last decade, but at the same time it is operating short of leadership, with the added possibility of a new Chair coming on board early next year. Meanwhile, politicians of both parties have proposed sweeping changes in the institution. Charles Steindel, Resident Scholar in the Anisfield School, and a former senior research officer at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, will discuss where the Fed now is, where it might be going, and what these developments can mean for everybody.<\/p>\n<p><b> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-260 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/sabrincenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/150\/2017\/09\/ASB17109_CHARLES-STEINDEL-RACITI-LECTURE-POSTER-4.jpg\" alt=\"Charles Steindel\" width=\"121\" height=\"173\" \/><\/b><span class=\"s2\"><b>Charles Steindel <\/b><\/span>is Resident Scholar at the Anisfield School of Business, and editor of Business Economics. He was formerly Chief Economist at the New Jersey Department of the Treasury, with responsibility for economic and revenue projections and analysis of state economic policy. He came to the Treasury after a long career at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where he played a leading role in forecasting and policy advice, and attended Federal Open Market Committee meetings. He has served in leading roles in a number of professional organizations. In 2011 he received the William F. Butler Award from the New York Association for Business Economics. He is a member of the panel for the Survey of Professional Forecasters, and the Committee on Research in Income and Wealth, and has published in fields across a range of areas.
