Important Announcement for Residents<\/h4>\n

Ramapo provides wireless access in all residence halls, making personal wireless access points or routers unnecessary. These devices can interfere with the campus network and cause connectivity issues. As a result, personal wireless access points or routers are not permitted on campus. Use of such devices may lead to suspension of your Internet connection.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

Ramapo provides wireless access campus-wide<\/a>, including academic buildings and residence halls. Wireless access is available to faculty, staff, students, guests, and alumni.<\/p>\n

While on campus, users will be able to connect to one of the following wireless networks:<\/p>\n

Ramapo-Open<\/h3>\n

This is an open wireless network which is available to guests<\/span>. It provides basic Internet access with no encryption.\u00a0 Guests can register themselves for Guest WiFi access for up to 24 hours as long as they know someone at Ramapo who can sponsor their WiFi access. The sponsor must have a Ramapo email address (@ramapo.edu) and be readily available to approve the Guest\u2019s WiFi access.\u00a0 If a guest needs WiFi access for longer than 24 hours, the guest must contact the department head of whom their visiting or ITS for this request.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Ramapo-Secure<\/h3>\n

This is a secured wireless network which is available to faculty<\/span>, staff<\/span>, and students<\/span> only. It provides Internet access as well as access to college specific resources with the highest level of encryption available using 802.1x authentication. Upon connection, a user will be prompted to input their user credentials to gain access. Upon successful authentication, a user\u2019s session will last indefinitely. Which means a user will not have to sign in every time to the wireless network. For instructions connecting each device to Ramapo-Secure, click on the button below.<\/p>\n

Ramapo-MultimediaDevices<\/h3>\n

This is a wireless network reserved for multimedia devices such as game consoles, media players, etc and is available to faculty<\/span>, staff<\/span>, and students<\/span>. These devices typically do not support web browsers or 802.1x authentication and therefore need to be registered to gain access to the Internet.
