Information regarding new online Graduation Application

For Students

TO: All Students

FROM: Fernanda Papalia, Registrar

Dear Students,

The Office of the Registrar has some exciting news! Students are now able to apply for graduation using the online Graduation Application available through Web Self Service. This streamlined process is available effective immediately for all students applying for January 2022 and June 2022 graduation and thereafter. Please be aware that the overall application process has not changed: you still need to meet with your academic advisor and be approved to apply; however, being approved by your advisor to apply for graduation DOES NOT guarantee graduation.

All matriculated students have a “Graduation Application” hold on their record. This hold does NOT prevent a student from registering, adding/dropping or withdrawing from courses, etc. It only prevents access to the Graduation Application. Once you have registered for your remaining courses and your degree audit reflects all requirements are either in progress or completed, you must meet with your academic advisor who will review your audit and then remove the Graduation Application hold. Removal of the hold will enable the online application to appear in Web Self Service. Your advisor will not clear your Graduation Application hold if your degree audit does not indicate all requirements of your program(s) are completely satisfied.

NOTE: Students with double majors cannot apply using Web Self Service but must apply using the Application For Graduation form available on the Registrar’s website here. All others must apply online though Web Self Service.

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO ACCESS AND COMPLETE THE ONLINE GRADUATION APPLICATION:

  • Log into Web Self Service using your User Name and Password
  • Select Student Services & Financial Aid
  • Select Student Records
  • Select Apply to Graduate

For Faculty

TO: All Faculty

To All Faculty:

The Office of the Registrar has some exciting news! Students are now able to apply for graduation using the online Graduation Application available through Web Self Service. This streamlined process is effective immediately for all students applying for January 2022 graduation and thereafter. Please be aware that the overall application process has not changed in that students still need to meet with their academic advisor and be cleared to apply for graduation. As you know, a student being cleared to apply DOES NOT guarantee the student will graduate.

We have placed a “Graduation Application” hold on all matriculated students. This hold does NOT prevent registration or other college functions. It only prevents access to the graduation application. Once the student has registered for their remaining courses and their degree audit indicates all requirements are either in progress or completed, you can then remove their Graduation Application hold. Removal of the hold is equivalent to signing their graduation application, which will enable the online application to appear in Web Self Service on a student-by-student basis. Students who have been approved for course substitutions or other unique circumstances that are not updated on their degree audits should be directed to the Dean’s Office, where adjustments can be made if warranted.  Once the audit is shows all degree requirements are in progress or have been met the Graduation Application hold can be removed by the Dean.

NOTE: Students with double majors cannot apply using Web Self Service but must apply using the Application For Graduation form available on the Registrar’s website here. All others must apply online though Web Self Service.

We recommend you use Web Self Service to remove holds, as the changes are reflected immediately. While you may use Connect to remove holds, there will be a delay in the actual removal of the hold. Below are instructions on how to remove a hold in Web Self Service:

  • Log into Web Self Service
  • Click on Enter Secure Area
  • Select Faculty Services
  • Select Surveys, Waivers, Ballots and Such
  • Select Remove Selected Student Holds
  • Enter the student’s R# and click Complete

If you have additional questions or need assistance, please contact the Graduation Office at grad@ramapo.edu. Thank you for your cooperation and implementation of this new, more efficient online graduation application process.

For Staff and Administration

TO: Administrative Offices

To Administrative Offices:

The Office of the Registrar has some exciting news! Students will now be able to apply for graduation using the online Graduation Application available through Web Self Service. This streamlined process is effective immediately for all students applying for January 2022 and thereafter.

Graduation Application holds were placed on all matriculated undergraduate and graduate students. This hold ONLY prevents students from accessing the online graduation application prematurely and does NOT prevent or affect registration in any way. The hold is removed once a student meets with their advisor prior to applying for graduation and the advisor certifies the student has satisfied all degree requirements. Once the Graduation Application hold is removed, the student can access the new online graduation application.

PLEASE NOTE: Any undergraduate student with two majors will need to apply using the Application For Graduation form available on the Registrar’s website here. All others must apply online.

If you have any questions or if you receive student questions, please email grad@ramapo.edu, and we will be happy to assist.
