Reminder about requesting Incomplete grades for Spring 2021

TO: All Students and Faculty

FROM: Fernanda Papalia, Registrar

Dear Students and Faculty,

As we are approaching the end of the Spring 2021 term, I wish to send a reminder of the College’s policy on Incomplete grades and Incomplete grade requests. Please carefully read the important information listed below.

  • The Incomplete grade is assigned in exceptional circumstances when approved by the instructor and when requested by a student, who has satisfactorily completed at least two-thirds of course requirements prior to the end of a term, for reasons of illness or other emergency.
  • The deadline to request an incomplete from instructors is Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 4:00pm. The Request for Incomplete Grade form, which must be completely filled out including having the instructor’s signature, must be sent to by this deadline. There are no extensions to this deadline to request an Incomplete, and no forms that are submitted after the deadline will be accepted.
  • Students who are approved to receive an Incomplete grade will be assigned an “I” grade.
  • When the coursework is completed by the date indicated on the academic calendar or by the deadline assigned by the instructor (which may be earlier than the date indicated on the academic calendar), the final letter grade assigned replaces the I grade.
  • If work is not submitted or satisfactorily completed by the date indicated in the academic calendar, the I grade will automatically change to F, which will then be the final grade for the course.
  • A student may not graduate until all I grades are resolved. No additional work can be accepted or considered after the end of the semester without the Incomplete grade assigned through the process described above.
  • No refunds are given for courses in which Incomplete grades are assigned.

Students are encouraged to read the complete details on Incomplete grades on the Registrar’s website. If you have any questions about the policy, please contact the Registrar’s Office at

Best wishes for a successful rest of the spring semester.
