October 19, 2020College and University Teaching Environment (CUTE) survey
TO: Fall 2020 Faculty
FROM: Susan Gaulden, Interim Provost
I am writing to inform you that Ramapo College will be participating in the “College and University Teaching Environment (CUTE)” survey created by Indiana University’s Center for Postsecondary Research. The survey was designed to collect information that will allow colleges and universities to better support faculty when minor and major shifts in teaching practices and course delivery must be implemented. Such a survey is necessary because, while it is undoubtedly important to understand the ramifications of crises on college students, far too little is known about impacts on the teaching end.
By investigating what went well, what challenges emerged or persisted, what methods faculty successfully employed, and more, we will acquire important information that will enable us to support faculty both at present and in future times of crisis. Furthermore, participating in the CUTE survey will allow us to measure how the support and resources recently provided by the College were utilized and received by faculty, which will additionally inform us how to more efficiently and effectively address the specific and collective needs of our faculty.
All faculty members who are teaching at Ramapo in Fall 2020 will receive an email invite from Indiana University on October 20th with instructions on how to complete the CUTE survey. (Note: The survey will close one month later on November 20, 2020.) Please be assured that the survey data is completely confidential, and survey responses will be processed by Indiana University’s Center for Postsecondary Research.
I strongly encourage you to complete the survey when you receive it tomorrow or soon thereafter. Thank you in advance for your valuable participation.
