Free introduction sessions scheduled for September 7 & 15
MAHWAH, N.J. – The Krame Center for Contemplative Studies and Mindful Living at Ramapo College of New Jersey is offering free introduction sessions to the Eight-Week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course. The free introductions are Thursday, September 7 at 7 p.m. and Friday, September 15 at 9 a.m. in the Anisfield School of Business Room 420. The MBSR courses will be held this fall on Thursdays at 7 p.m.., Fridays at 9 a.m. and Saturdays at 9:30 a.m.
Participants in MBSR will learn about this research-backed mind-body stress reduction program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the Center for Mindfulness, UMASS Medical School. Participants will develop awareness of the body and emotions and thoughtfully respond instead of react to situations. Public research has shown that mindfulness training can be an important adjunct to conventional medical treatment for many disorders as well as a powerful way of reducing stress and pain and learning to focus attention in the present moment. The orientation is a required part of the course.
