MAHWAH, N.J. — Ramapo College of New Jersey is among the top 10 colleges in the nation that boast the lowest average debt for its students upon graduation, according to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine annual rankings of best college values.
Ramapo was listed at Number 5 with an average graduating debt of $11,275. Princeton University, ranked third, was the only other New Jersey college to be named to the list.
“The financial realities of the majority of our students are increasingly cumbersome and the College is not unique in its desire to help manage the cost of a Ramapo College education for all of our students. To these ends, with the support of the Board of Trustees over the last five years, we have maintained the lowest average tuition increase of all senior public colleges in New Jersey,” said President Peter P. Mercer, adding “the high quality of a Ramapo College education is becoming increasingly well-known.”
Ramapo is also listed as among the “100 Best Values in Public Colleges” for in-state tuition and fees for 2017 for the 11th consecutive year in the Kiplinger report. The College is one of only three New Jersey public institutions of higher education included in the list. The report features institutions that deliver a high-quality education at an affordable price, and Ramapo College was included due to its high four-year graduation rate, low average student debt at graduation, abundant financial aid and low cost.
In 2017, Ramapo College was named among the Top Three (after Princeton and Stevens Institute of Technology) institutions in New Jersey and Number One among the State’s public institutions in College Choice’s ranking for 2017-2018.
Ramapo College of New Jersey is the state's premier public liberal arts college. Ranked among the top colleges in the region by College Choice and recognized by, among others, U.S. News & World Report, Princeton Review, Colleges of Distinction and, also designated by Victory Media as a "Military Friendly College," Ramapo College is committed to academic excellence through interdisciplinary and experiential learning, and international and intercultural understanding.
