MAHWAH, N.J. — The Krame Center for Mindfulness and Contemplative Studies at Ramapo College has announced its September schedule.

MONDAYS AND THURSDAYS – Free Weekly Day Meditations (Held Year-Round)

Free partially guided meditations are held on Monday and Thursday afternoons from 1:10-1:45 p.m. in the Anisfield School of Business, Room 420, on campus. Learn to mediate or expand your current practice. WEDNESDAY EVENINGS – Free Weekly Evening Meditations (Held Year-Round) 

Join us for partially guided meditations on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Learn to mediate or expand your current practice. Learn about the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course at the free orientation on Wednesday, September 12, 7-9 p.m. The orientation session is required of all participants before beginning the program. Over 24,000 patients, referred by more than 6,000 physicians and hundreds of other health care providers, have completed the internationally acclaimed course, the most widely researched mind-body program in the world. You can experience, first-hand, mindfulness methods and approaches you will be learning during the program and meet our program instructors. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 – Introduction to Mindfulness and Meditation Workshop

Learn to meditate at this introductory session to be held Wednesday, September 19 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. The program will briefly review the meaning and benefits of mindfulness practices, and then present an experiential introduction to breath-based meditation practice. Suggestions will be offered on how to integrate a simple, but effective, mindfulness practice into one’s everyday life. Fee is $15. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 “Using Mindfulness to Get at Sustainability” with Professor Ashwani Vasishth

Free program from 5:00-5:30 p.m. with a meditation to follow 5:30-6:30 p.m. There are two key elements that undergird sustainability in actual practice. One of these is the attribute of empathy. And, the other, which is the focus of this discussion, is best depicted by the Sanskrit meme of dhyaan, which loosely translates to the ability to pay diligent attention—connoting mindfulness practice.
