Every Spring, the Masters in Sustainability Studies (MASS) produces a lecture series to showcase a diverse array of sustainability practitioners who demonstrate that sustainability can be achieved and show how to do it. Programs are open to the entire college community and to the general public. Please join us.<\/p>\n

Gary Oppenheimer is the founder of the non-profit organization AmpleHarvest.org which uses information and technology to channel excess produce and fruit from gardens to food pantries nationwide. Not only is waste avoided and\u00a0hungry families fed, but communities learn how to work together to take responsibility for the ethical challenges they face.<\/p>\n

Janet Biehl, Author of Ecology or Catastrophe, the Life of Murray Bookchin<\/u>, will discuss Murray Bookchin\u2019s important contribution as the founder of Social Ecology and as a social theorist concerned with what kinds of social transformations are necessary to achieve what we call sustainability. Murray taught at Ramapo during its formative years.<\/p>\n

Willard left IBM\u2019s Senior Management to become a fulltime advocate for \u201cthe Sustainability Advantage.\u201d His books include The Next Sustainability Wave, The New Sustainability Advantage and The Sustainability Champions. He has also designed a business benchmark system called Future-Fit.<\/p>\n

\nWOMEN AT THE FOREFRONT OF CLIMATE PROTECTION <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Tracy Mann, Project Director, Climate Wise Women<\/p>\n

Women across the globe have stepped to the front in the battle for a future free of the ravages of climate change.
\nTracy Mann is a key leader in this effort. Tracy is the head of Climate Wise Women, a group of global community leaders
\ndedicated to creating a public platform to support women\u2019s leadership on climate change. The approach of the
\norganization is to unite inspiring climate leaders from across the globe to promote the stories of how their home
\ncommunities are being impacted by climate change. The result has been powerful and personal narratives from the front
\nlines of climate impact.<\/p>\n

APRIL 23
\nTHE POST-PARIS CLIMATE AGENDA<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

with leading climate activists and organizations<\/p>\n

The finale of this semester\u2019s Expert Practitioner Series is a Saturday conference bringing together local and global
\nactivists to discuss how the Paris Climate Agreement can be implemented, moving from promise to concrete action. The
\nevent is designed to guide and energize the region to take an active role on this meta-sustainability issue.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The series is open to the campus and to the public. Off campus attendees need to get a parking permit at the Security booth at the north entrance (Magnolia Avenue) to campus upon arrival.<\/p>\n
