Join us for a half-day mindfulness meditation silent retreat on Saturday, November 18.  Take the time to recharge, reflect and relax.  This silent retreat will alternate periods of meditation and mindful walking.

Please bring a yoga mat if you have one and dress in layers as the rooms can sometimes get cool.  Please bring water or snacks if you would like.

The retreat leaders are Carol Bowman and Peter Shalit.

Cost:  $35 for community members  |  $25 for Ramapo MBSR graduates    |  $15 for Ramapo faculty, staff and students

Bio Carol Bowman

Carol Bonilla Bowman, Ed.D., Associate Professor of Education at Ramapo College of New Jersey, holds a doctorate in Applied Linguistics from Teachers College, Columbia University. Her specialties include elementary education, portfolio assessment, bilingual education, and mindful education. She is the Associate Director of the Krame Center for Contemplative Studies and Mindful Living and Director of Yoga Programs at Ramapo. She was trained at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School to teach Mind Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Her training to teach .b mindfulness curriculum to middle and high school students was completed in July 2015. A yoga practitioner most of her life and a yoga teacher for the last 10 years, her practice has expanded to include a variety of contemplative practices of Zen and Tibetan Buddhism.

Peter Shalit, silent retreat leader

Peter Shalit is a Graduate of Syracuse University with a BA in Psychology. He studied Eastern Philosophy and Practices in Asia for several years and is a Certified Yoga Instructor. Peter has participated in numerous silent retreats. He is currently in the process of becoming a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher. Peter leads meditations and mindfulness practices for the Krame Center.
