Formerly Practicum – The first step to becoming an MBSR Instructor (after taking the MBSR course)
In collaboration with the Center for Mindfulness (CFM) at UMass Medical School, the Krame Center now offers the first step in Oasis Institute’s comprehensive, highly-professional training to become a CFM Certified MBSR Instructor, with the opportunity to earn CFM “Qualified Teacher” status after the first three courses (SR-401, SR-402 and SR-403). With completion of all six courses (SR-FLEX, plus SR-401 through SR-405), you will earn CFM MBSR Teacher Certification. You can now complete your first step in becoming an MBSR teacher at the Krame Center (after taking the MBSR course as a participant.) Educators will receive 40 hours for the 8-Week and 56 hours for the 9-Day course.

When you register for the 8-Week Fundamental Course, you will automatically be registered for the 8-Week MBSR course Both courses must be completed at the same time. You must also attend an MBSR orientation. See registration link with Wednesday evening course information below.
SR-401-8W MBSR Fundamentals – 8 Week MBSR Fundamentals is an immersion in the CFM 8-week Stress Reduction Program to study the curriculum, program flow, and contextual and theoretical background of MBSR. A small cohort explores issues arising out of the MBSR learning and teaching experience.

Location: Course in Anisfield School of Business Building Room 420. Only the retreat will take place in Trustees Pavilion. Please park in Mackin-Bischoff Lot for both the course and the retreat.
Cancellation Policy: If cancelled 5 days before training begins, 50% of tuition will be refunded; if cancelled 7 days prior to training 10% will be refunded. No refunds in less than 7 days notice.
NOTE: When you register for the 8-Week Fundamental Course, you will automatically be registered for the 8-Week MBSR course Both courses must be completed at the same time. You must also attend an MBSR orientation.

Bio Meg Chang
Meg is a licensed dance/movement therapist who, starting in 1992, studied and began teaching Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) at the first Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. Her initial MBSR teaching was through the Massachusetts Department of Corrections Prison Project with George Mumford and Saki Santorelli, at the Inner City Clinic, and in the Stress Reduction Clinic itself under the supervision of Saki Santorelli and Jon Kabat-Zinn.
9-Day Fundamentals Professional Education Teacher Training
August 10-19, 2018
This retreat consists of the 5-Day Mindfulness Tools Residential Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Intensive program and the 4-Day Fundamentals Teacher Training Intensive.
SR-401-9D MBSR Fundamentals – 9 Day MBSR Fundamentals is an intensive residential training based on the 8-week MBSR curriculum. For the first 5 days, students are immersed in the Mindfulness Tools Program™, a synthesized format of the 8-week MBSR course that includes intensive meditation, small and large group dialogue and interaction, and teacher instruction. In the 4 days immediately following Mindfulness Tools Program™, students participate in an intensive, highly experiential professional training to facilitate further integration of the Mindfulness Tools Program™ through instruction, investigation and dialogue with teachers and other Fundamentals participants. This intensive is to study the curriculum, program flow, and contextual and theoretical background of MBSR. A small cohort explores issues arising out of the MBSR learning and teaching experience.
CFM Fundamentals Instructor – Lynn Koerbel
Lynn KoerbelLynn Koerbel is the Director of MBSR Education and Curriculum Development at the the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and a Senior Certified MBSR Teacher, Trainer. She teaches MBSR and other mindfulness-based programs, professional trainings, and presentations in the various educational pathways of the Center for Mindfulness at UMass, including the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Clinic, Oasis Institute, and the community and workplace mindfulness programs.

9-Day Fundamentals which includes 5-Day MBSR Intensive “Mindfulness Tools”: $2640 tuition (plus 9 days of meals*)
*The program meals and fees includes, breakfast, lunch, dinner and an all day service of snacks, nuts, fruit, coffee and tea.

Acceptance and Registration:
As with all CFM Oasis programs, acceptance into this course is required. Please do not make reservations or travel plans until you have received an official acceptance determination from the Center from Mindfulness.

Once accepted into the program, you will receive a confirmation email from the Krame Center with a link that will lead you to a page to process your registration and payment. Once you complete the registration and payment process, you are ready to reserve accommodations.
