MBSR Fundamentals Professional Education: In collaboration with the Center for Mindfulness at UMass

Participants of 5-Day Mindfulness Tools program at the Krame Center

Formerly “Practicum” – The first step to becoming an MBSR Instructor (after taking the MBSR course)

MBSR Fundamentals Information

You can complete 3 of the steps on the pathway to becoming an MBSR instructor at the Krame Center.  We offer the 8-Week MBSR, 9-Day Fundamentals and 5-Day Silent Retreat.

In collaboration with the Center for Mindfulness (CFM) at UMass Medical School, the Krame Center now offers the first step in Oasis Institute’s comprehensive, highly-professional training to become a CFM Certified MBSR Instructor, with the opportunity to earn CFM “Qualified Teacher” status after the first three courses (SR-401, SR-402 and SR-403). With completion of all six courses (SR-FLEX, plus SR-401 through SR-405), you will earn CFM MBSR Teacher Certification. You can now complete your first step in becoming an MBSR teacher at the Krame Center (after taking the MBSR course as a participant and fulfilling the CFM prerequisites found below, and in our Frequently Asked Questions section, and on the CFM website.) For more on CFM UMass Oasis MBSR Teacher Education and Certification, click here.

Educators will receive 40 hours for the 8-Week and 56 hours for the 9-Day course. CEU Certificates for any 8-Week Fundamentals and 9-Day Fundamentals Professional Intensive Teacher Training will be automatically processed by CFM upon completion of the course based on application submission request.

9-DAY FUNDAMENTALS PROFESSIONAL INTENSIVE TEACHER TRAINING (SR 401-9D)

Check back for 2019 dates.

Retreat Information

This retreat consists of the 5-Day Mindfulness Tools Residential Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Intensive program and the 4-Day Fundamentals Teacher Training Intensive.

SR-401-9D MBSR Fundamentals – 9 Day MBSR Fundamentals is an intensive residential training based on the 8-week MBSR curriculum. For the first 5 days, students are immersed in the Mindfulness Tools Program™, a synthesized format of the 8-week MBSR course that includes intensive meditation, small and large group dialogue and interaction, and teacher instruction. In the 4 days immediately following Mindfulness Tools Program™, students participate in an intensive, highly experiential professional training to facilitate further integration of the Mindfulness Tools Program™ through instruction, investigation and dialogue with teachers and other Fundamentals participants. This intensive is to study the curriculum, program flow, and contextual and theoretical background of MBSR. A small cohort explores issues arising out of the MBSR learning and teaching experience.

When you register for the 9-Day Fundamentals Course, you will automatically be registered for the 5-Day Mindfulness Tools MBSR course Both courses must be completed at the same time.
