Mindfulness Programs for Businesses and Organizations

Are you ready to bring positive and comprehensive changes to your organization or business?  There is scientific evidence that shows that mindfulness in the workplace increases employee satisfaction, creativity, performance, and motivation while significantly reducing stress, distraction and burnout. The physical and psychological benefits of meditation and mindfulness practices have been well researched and documented.*

What Is Mindfulness and Why Should You Embrace It For Your Company or Organization?

Simply stated, mindfulness is “The awareness that emerges through paying attention on purpose in the present moment without judgment.”** Although it sounds easy, in today’s fast-paced and distracted environment, it’s hard to do, and yet more needed than ever.

At the Krame Center for Mindful Living at Ramapo College, we will work with you to find the right program to help create a more collaborative, productive, innovative and enjoyable work environment for your executives, managers, workforce or organization. We offer several options to best suit your needs and adhere to the strictest standards of quality and integrity with all of our programs. Five Programs Available for Corporations and Organizations

The Krame Center offers 5 different approaches to bringing mindfulness into your organization.  All of the programs are experiential. Programs available are a 1 ½-Hour Introduction to Mindfulness & Meditation Workshop, a Half day Workshop, a Full day Workshop, or a 5-Week Meditation series, as well as the highly regarded, evidenced-based Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course.  Let us help you choose the right one for your organization.

1 1/2-Hour Introduction to Mindfulness & Meditation Workshop for Executives
Learn the basics of a meditation practice at this introductory session. The program will briefly review the meaning and benefits of mindfulness practices, and then present an experiential introduction to breath-based meditation practice. Suggestions will be offered on how to integrate a simple, but effective, mindfulness practice into one’s everyday work day and life.

Half-Day Workshop (9:00 a.m. – noon, or another 3 hour time-slot)
Expanding on the 1½-hour introduction, this half-day workshop allows more time for participants to learn and experience the benefits of meditation and learn some basics about integrating mindfulness practices into their workplace and life. The half-day workshop provides additional time for the experiential component and is more exploratory than explanatory.  Periods of silence will allow participants to turn inward and increase self-awareness and begin to cultivate their own practice in a meaningful way. Through these meditative practices, participants can begin to experience the benefits of mindfulness first-hand. The resulting clarity and lasting balance that these practices bring will contribute to a more positive workplace and home environment.

Full-Day Workshop (9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)

This is a more detailed and highly experiential workshop with time to explore various forms of meditation practice including sitting meditation, mindful movement, and mindful listening.

During periods of silence, participants will be encouraged to turn inwards and begin to observe thought patterns and habitual tendencies that may lead to stress.  The focus is on developing an awareness of what is actually happening in our bodies and minds moment-to-moment. By using curiosity and self-compassion to observe our experience we begin to create a flexibility of mind that fosters clarity, creative problem solving, greater self-regulation, and a broader perspective from which new possibilities can emerge.

This highly experiential workshop will allow participants to explore how mindfulness meditation practices can help us be more present in our daily lives, respond with compassion and kindness and avoid the trap of succumbing to automatic reactive patterns. We will begin to understand the power of mindfulness practices in building awareness, focus and concentration. These practices have been proven to provide individuals with greater clarity and a lasting balance that will contribute to a more positive workplace and home environment.

We will alternate periods of meditation, mindful walking, and gentle movement. A guided reflection and mindful listening exercise will be used to focus on improving communication skills with time for group discussion and Q & A.  Participants will see how mindfulness can help them re-perceive their stressors, and increase personal resilience.

5-Week Meditation Series

Offer members of your organization the opportunity to recharge during their lunch hour, returning to work energized and refreshed with our 30 or 60-minute meditation series. Our 5-week series introduces participants to practices that will reduce tension, enhance overall well being and promote balance during the workday.

Participants will experience various forms of mindful-movement and be exposed to a variety of guided meditations, learning to cultivate present-moment awareness and awaken their innate capacity for calm.  Just 30 (or 60) minutes of self-care will allow participants a fresh start for the remainder of their workday. This series can be offered once or twice a week.

8-Week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course

The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course, which originated at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, has been on the cutting edge of integrative mind/body medicine for over 40 years. Developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, more than 30,000 people have completed this internationally acclaimed course. Grounded in science, MBSR is the most widely researched mind-body program in the world.

Mindfulness is a purposeful way of focusing attention in the present moment to cultivate an increased awareness of thoughts, feelings and emotions. Intentionally strengthening the mind/body connection can create greater resiliency and reduce stress. Participants develop an ability to respond thoughtfully, rather than react automatically to challenging situations. This results in a more balanced relationship to life’s experiences and a boost in overall wellness, as well as fostering better communication and collaboration in the workplace.

In this eight-week program participants receive a first-hand introduction to mindfulness practices involving breathing and gentle body movements. The curriculum is designed to guide MBSR participants through the learning process of: adopting the formal practices, how to apply mindfulness at home and work, and how to integrate it into everyday life.  It creates a pathway to relieve suffering and increase wellbeing for people facing a variety of challenges, issues and stressors. Both formal and informal mindfulness practices are introduced throughout the course.

The eight-week course consists of:

One mandatory 2-hour Orientation session

Eight weekly classes, 2 1/2 hours each

One All-Day retreat

Daily home practice assignments for 45-60 minutes each day

Support from your MBSR Instructor

We can offer the MBSR course at your location or at Ramapo College.
