The following resources can provide you with important information as you prepare for international travel, or are currently traveling outside of the United States:<\/p>\n

Smart Travel Enrollment Program<\/a> (STEP)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The U.S. Department of State Program that encourages U.S. Citizens to register their international travel. The benefits of registration is that if any event occurs in your host country, the U.S. government will know who of their citizens on traveling there and do their best to expedite assistance and support to those citizens.<\/p>\n

Smart Traveler iPhone App<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the\u00a0US State Department’s mobile application\u00a0for enabling easy access to travel information on your iPhone.<\/p>\n

\n

U.S. Department of State<\/a> (US-DOS)<\/strong><\/p>\n

This useful website provides guidance about how to apply\/renew for a U.S. Passport, country-specific information, security alerts and warnings and general tips on international travel.<\/p>\n

\n

USA Study Abroad<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(US-DOS)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The U.S. Department of State has developed a website with specific guidance to individuals studying abroad.<\/p>\n

Overseas Security Advisory Council <\/a>(US-DOS)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The OSAC Website is the focal point for the exchange of unclassified information on security related incidents and threats overseas between the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. private sector. Information on the OSAC website that constituents can access includes the following as well as embassy and consulate warden messages linked through the Department of State\u2019s Bureau of Consular Affairs.<\/p>\n

\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0“OSAC Analysis” reports with the latest on major security incidents around the world
\n\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Security-specific coverage of major events such as the Olympics, the World Cup, the economic summit meetings of the G8, and the World Economic Forum, with continual freshening of information on threats
\n\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Security-focused reporting searchable by region and\/or topic
\n\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0A resource library packed with expertise on contingency planning, plus model presentations that constituents can adapt for briefing their own personnel<\/p>\n

Centers for Disease Control <\/a>(CDC)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control works 24\/7 to protect the U.S. and U.S. Citizens from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the U.S. Whether diseases start at home or abroad, are chronic or acute, curable or preventable, human error or deliberate attack, CDC fights disease and supports communities and citizens to do the same. The CDC increases the health security of the United States. As the nation’s health protection agency, the CDC saves lives and protects people from health threats. To accomplish their mission, the CDC conducts critical science and provides health information that protects the nation against expensive and dangerous health threats, and responds when these arise.<\/p>\n

Center for Global Education<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

An international research and resource center that provides support for international learning at colleges and universities, providing support for faculty, staff, students and partners with information and resources about a variety of issues including integrated international learning, health, safety, diversity and the impact of study abroad on student retention and success.<\/p>\n

NACUBO International Resource Center<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n
