Dr. Priyanca Mathur<\/p><\/div>\n

Refugees have been fleeing the southeast Asian state of Myanmar and taking refuge in India\u2019s capital city New Delhi and its north-eastern states of Manipur and Mizoram. The lives of these refugees are totally dependent on the ad hoc and politically expedient policies of the Indian state, which is neither a signatory of the UN Refugee Convention nor basing its actions on any national legislation.<\/p>\n

Dr. Mathur will speak about the hyper-securitized lens through which the Indian state is approaching Myanmarese refugees and media complicity.\u00a0
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

This lecture is part of our \u201cOpen Classroom Series.\u201d Dr. Mathur will visit Dr. Jacob Labendz\u2019s \u201cHolocaust Media\u201d course. Center guests are invited to view the livestream and, with deference to Ramapo students, ask questions of Dr. Mathur.<\/p>\n
