Appointments<\/h3>\nAppointments<\/h3>\nHealth Services is no longer offering medical appointments (in-person or virtual).<\/strong> As of Monday, March 2, 2026 and through Tuesday, May 12, 2026, College will offer <\/span>free<\/b>, telehealth services to all students via Bergen New Bridge Medical Center.\u00a0 Appointments will be available Monday through Sunday (7 days per week) from 10:00am to 6:00pm.\u00a0 Many medical concerns can be addressed via telehealth such as cold, flu, sore throat, cough or sinus symptoms. Students can access the service by calling Bergen New Bridge Medical Center directly at <\/span>201-967-4233 or 551-276-0317<\/b> and use their computer, tablet, or smart phone to join the appointment. Please be prepared to share your student Ramapo identification card with the medical provider.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In the event of a medical emergency, please call 9-911 (on-campus) or 911 (off campus).<\/strong> Resident students can receive their prescriptions on campus via the Residence Life mail room.\u00a0 For prescription delivery that does not require refrigeration or is not timely, please see information on where to send packages\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Students can utilize a variety of pharmacies off campus for their prescriptions.\u00a0 A popular, local pharmacy is Oakland Drug, 350 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland, NJ\u00a0 201-337-7300.\u00a0 Students with transportation concerns, may use the free on-campus shuttle, known as the\u00a0Ramapo Roadrunner Express<\/a>, to access Shoprite in Ramsey.\u00a0 Shoprite is part of a large group of stores known as Interstate Plaza on the above mentioned shuttle link. The Shoprite in Ramsey includes a pharmacy that is open 7 days per week. There is also a CVS located at Interstate Plaza open 7 days per week. At Interstate Plaza, the pick up and drop off for the Shuttle is in front of the Macy\u2019s.<\/p>\n In April 2026, Ramapo College will partner with Valley Medical Group for the provision of on-campus health services for all RCNJ students and employees.<\/p>\n 1. What prompted the College to explore partnering with a third party to operate Health Services? Why was Valley Medical Group (VMG) selected?<\/strong><\/p>\n We want our current and future students to have expanded high-quality care that is both accessible and affordable. VMG brings an array of expertise and resources to campus and has already proven to be a valued collaborator. Their responsiveness, problem-solving nature, and eagerness to provide the best student-centered, affordable, accessible, and high-quality care possible will serve the Ramapo community well. The partnership with VMG also represents a more thoughtful investment of College resources.<\/p>\n 2. What are the benefits of having Health Services operated by Valley Medical Group (VMG)?<\/strong><\/p>\n VMG is a partner who can be adaptable and nimble in delivering medical services. Partnering with a third-party provider allows the College to expand and adjust services more easily based on enrollment trends, evolving student needs, and external forces (possibly another pandemic) without making long-term infrastructure or resource commitments.<\/p>\n Students will benefit from VMG\u2019s expertise and expanded services. Through VMG, our students will gain access to telehealth and expanded on-site services such as PrEP, athletic physicals, and concussion clearances. VMG will also make available health services to Ramapo employees. In addition to expanded services and the ability to serve more members of the Ramapo College community, VMG will provide electronic health record systems, online scheduling, patient portals, and data analytics tools designed to enhance care coordination and service planning.<\/p>\n 3. Are students required to have health insurance?<\/strong><\/p>\n Yes. The College requires that all students have health insurance.<\/p>\n 4. Will VMG bill my insurance?<\/strong><\/p>\n Yes. A visit to Ramapo Health Services will be similar to visiting your local doctor\u2019s office or urgent care. Just as with any healthcare provider, medical services are billed to your insurance company. VMG will collect whatever co-pay or deductible is associated with the student\u2019s health insurance plan at the time of service so long as the carrier is accepted by VMG. Please see a list of accepted current insurance plans<\/a>. The Ramapo Aetna Student Health plan is accepted by VMG.<\/p>\n 5. What happens to students who experience lapses in insurance coverage or are out of network?<\/strong><\/p>\n Students will not be turned away for services. The College worked closely with VMG to assess and address the potential impact on students who receive insurance through carriers VMG may not accept. VMG will develop a discounted self-pay listing of services and will offer sliding scale payment options.<\/p>\n Students with financial hardship will be referred to a College-established Health Assistance Fund (HAF). The HAF is being established in coordination with VMG\u2019s Charity Care Fund and, to this end, VMG has volunteered to simplify its charity care application for Ramapo College students.<\/p>\n 6. How will student privacy be maintained?<\/strong><\/p>\n
