Quarantine: Quarantined people may or may not become sick.  Quarantine is for people who are not sick, but may have been exposed (Source: NJ Department of Health)

Asymptomatic testing:  Some individuals may be carriers of COVID-19, but not show any symptoms or signs of sickness.  The College has an asymptomatic, surveillance testing program for students and faculty/staff who are unvaccinated.   The College also requires entry testing for residents to show evidence of a negative COVID-19 test prior to moving into residence.  Both of the aforesaid strategies are intended to detect cases early and be proactive to contain the spread of COVID-19 on campus.

Symptomatic testing:  Individuals showing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 are referred to seek a COVID-19 test.  At present, symptomatic testing is not available on campus.  The College refers individuals to a number of community providers found here: https://www.ramapo.edu/health/coronavirus-covid-19/if-you-feel-sick/.

Close Contact: A close contact is defined as someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to test specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated (Source: CDC)
