RCNJ Terms and Definitions

On-Campus positive cases: Individuals tested positive for COVID-19 who:

  • live on campus,
  • work on campus, or
  • spent significant time on campus during the time they are believed to have been infectious.

Off-Campus positive cases: Individuals tested positive for COVID-19 who:

  • do not live on campus,
  • work on campus but were not on campus for a significant amount of time when they are believed to have been infectious,
  • may not have been on campus at all (studying or working completely remotely), or
  • have never been to campus (new students)

Isolation: Separates and restricts the movement of sick people so they cannot spread disease to healthy people. Isolation is for people who are already sick. (Source: NJ Department of Health)
