Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students:

The Pandemic Assessment Team is committed to keeping you informed about the coronavirus (COVID-19) and the College’s coordinated response. Below is a list of frequently asked questions which contains clarification related to the State’s recent notice on travel bans for State employees and clarification on Ramapo College sponsored or supported domestic trips and off campus activities.

Ramapo-Specific Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are there any confirmed cases on campus?
A:  No, there are no confirmed cases at Ramapo College.

Q:  Is international travel cancelled?
A:  Yes.  As reported in the campus wide email on March 4, 2020, all Ramapo College sponsored or supported international travel scheduled to take place through the end of Spring 2020 Semester is cancelled.

Q:  What is Ramapo College sponsored or supported international travel?
A:  Ramapo Sponsored Activities Includes all travel by faculty, staff, students and other eligible participants, which is organized, approved, administered, and/or funded by the College, the Ramapo College Foundation or external funders. Examples of these activities include: Faculty/staff-led programs; recruitment trips; program assessment trips; conference attendance; College-funded scholarly capacity travel; etc.

Q: When does Spring 2020 Semester end as it relates to the cancellation of Ramapo sponsored travel?
A:  At this point, all Ramapo College sponsored or supported international travel is cancelled through May 12, 2020.

Q:  Are major college events cancelled?
A:  At this time, no major college events either internally or externally are cancelled.

Q: What if I was scheduled to go on a Ramapo sponsored or supported international trip?
A:  Impacted participants received a dedicated message earlier this week.  Student travelers with questions may call the Roukema Center for International Education at 201-684-7533 or the Center for Student Involvement at 201-684-7593. Employee travelers with questions may call Human Resources at 201-684-7506

Q: Are the domestic travel restrictions issued by the State of New Jersey on March 5, 2020 applicable to Ramapo College employees?
A: No.  The domestic travel restrictions by the New Jersey Department of Treasury Circular No. 20-04-OMB are applicable to State executive branch departments and agencies but not Ramapo College employees.
The College is actively monitoring the risks associated with domestic travel and may issue additional guidelines/restrictions concerning domestic travel in the future.

Q:  Is domestic travel cancelled?
A:  No, domestic travel is not cancelled at this time, please see above answer.  However, we encourage individuals to exercise sound judgment in their travel plans and stay abreast of recent information related to areas where there have been confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Q:  Is Building Services doing anything different related to cleaning as a result of the outbreak of COVID-19?
A: Ramapo College’s Director of Environmental Health and Safety met with Building Services supervisors and advised on safe procedures for cleaning and disinfecting high touch surfaces at the College.  The Director also confirmed that Building Services staff are indeed using the products that are recommended by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Q:  Where can I find resources and additional information related to COVID-19?
A:  Ramapo College is following the expert national and international recommendations regarding the outbreak.  The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and The World Health Organization websites are important resources for any updates and alerts related to health, safety, and travel.  We recommend that you review the information on these websites before you consider travel and stay current with CDC travel health notices.
