{"id":16,"date":"2023-07-24T13:57:44","date_gmt":"2023-07-24T17:57:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/health-promotion\/?page_id=16"},"modified":"2025-12-17T14:35:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T19:35:08","slug":"wellness-room","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/health-promotion\/wellness-room\/","title":{"rendered":"Ramapo Wellness Room"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><a id=\"s1\"><\/a>The Ramapo Wellness Room<\/h3>\n<p>The Ramapo Wellness room was made possible by funds through the Mental Health in Higher Education Grant through the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education. <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Wellness Room is a vital step towards being a mental health promoting campus. The Wellness Room will provide mental, spiritual, and emotional support resources for Ramapo students, and will be able to be accessed throughout the day and in the evening while other campus offices are closed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Wellness room provides students with a warm, comforting environment. The Ramapo Wellness Room is stocked with relaxation activities, including yoga mats, a light therapy lamp, a weighted blanket and a massage chair. Wellness and recreation spaces on college campuses are evidence-based in utilization by students, helping with healthy-habit development, and coping with stress (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/full\/10.1177\/1558866120927322\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Makubuya et al, 2020<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">). There will also be coloring activities and stress reduction pamphlets available.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#s1\">The Ramapo Wellness Room<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#s2\">Operating Hours<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#s3\">Reservation Protocol<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#s4\">Therapy Animal Visits<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><a id=\"s2\"><\/a>Operating Hours<\/h3>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\">During Fall + Spring Semester<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">The Wellness Room will be available to reserve for appointments during the following time frames.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>E-216 (near Financial Aid)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hours<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Monday through Friday: 9 am to 10 pm<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Saturday: 4 pm to 10 pm<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Sunday: 3 pm to 8 pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\">During the Winter and Summer Sessions<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">The Wellness Room will become available for <strong>faculty, staff, and students<\/strong> to reserve for appointments during College operating hours on June 9. Appointments in Google Calendar will still be used to reserve the room, and everyone must pick up and sign the key out through the Center for Student Involvement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>E-216 (near Financial Aid)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hours<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monday-Thursday 9 am to 5 pm<\/li>\n<li>The room is closed on weekends<\/li>\n<li>There are some days that the room may be closed due to holidays<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><a id=\"s3\"><\/a>Reservation Protocol<\/h3>\n<p>Reservations will be required for the wellness room. You can include up to 5 other students to your wellness room appointment (6 students total per appointment). Please indicate their names in the reservation slot on google calendar.<\/p>\n<p>The wellness room will be accessible with a key from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/csi\/\">Center for Student Involvement<\/a> front desk (the office has glass windows and is near the book store). You must sign the key out with your name, email, and phone number. Appointments are 30 minutes in length with a window in between each appointment to return the key to the CSI main office. <strong>Students are not permitted to reserve more than two appointments back to back to ensure there is equitable access to the space.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you do not return the key, CSI Student Staff will contact you via phone. If they do not hear from you, Public Safety will be called to locate you and get the key.<\/p>\n<p>If you reserve the last appointment for the day, please turn off the lights on your way out.<\/p>\n<p>This room is available to students for free.
