Academics are an essential aspect of fraternity and sorority life, one which members take very seriously. In assuring the academic prosperity of its members, all fraternities and sororities must meet an average grade point average of a 2.7 ,as outlined in the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life policies, in order to remain an active and recognized organization at Ramapo College of New Jersey.
Prospective members are also held to an academic standard. In order to be eligible to join a fraternity or sorority at Ramapo College of New Jersey, students must meet the following requirements:
- Must be full time students and in good standing with the College
- Students with 12 credits or higher must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA
- Students with 24 credits or higher must have a minimum of 2.25 GPA
- Transfer students must have completed at least one academic term at a different institution, and do not need a grade point average if they are joining in their first semester, after that must meet requirements of continuing students
