Mercer established the Edible Garden in the spring of 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Modeled after the great Victory gardens of 1917, the Havemeyer Edible Garden &amp; Bee Hives serve as a classroom where individuals and students learn and experience food sustainability and nutrition. Growing in the garden are a wide variety of hybrid tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, carrots, green and red peppers, cucumbers, beans, radishes, onions, strawberries, apples, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, cherries, apricots, peaches, plums and a broad array of fresh herbs.<\/p>\n<p>Each year, area k-12 school children, college students and individuals visit the Garden to participate in an array of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/garden\/program-events\/\">programs and events.<\/a> The Havemeyer Edible Garden is entirely funded through donations and entirely run by volunteers.
