Peter Philip Mercer, President, Ramapo College of New Jersey, Ex Officio
Dr. Mercer became Ramapo College’s fourth president on July 1, 2005. He previously served as dean of the law school and then as vice president (administration) and general counsel at the University of Western Ontario, where he was a professor of law. He has been a faculty member at the University of Calgary, the University of Detroit and the University of Windsor as well as a visiting research scholar at the University of Michigan. In 2005, Rotary International appointed Dr. Mercer a Paul Harris Fellow. Dr. Mercer was recently appointed to the College Affordability Study Commission by Governor Christie. He is a member of the executive board and past vice chair of the N.J. Association of Colleges and Universities Presidents Council. Dr. Mercer is a director of the Commerce and Industry Association of N.J. and a member of the board of advisors of the Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce. He has been honored by the Rotary Club of Ridgewood, March of Dimes and West Bergen Healthcare. He earned LL.M. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Cambridge, and a J.D. from the University of Western Ontario.
