Faculty, including library faculty and all full-time employees contractually obligated to teach are FA members as defined by our bylaws.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Meeting minutes taken by FA Secretary Matthew Jobrack.<\/p>\n<p><b>Agenda:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Approval of Minutes (11\/6\/2024)<\/p>\n<p><b>Reports:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Faculty Assembly President&#8217;s Report:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Encouraged faculty to review Mike Yankovich\u2019s <i>ERP and Capital Projects Update<\/i> from the November Communications Meeting. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/fa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/60\/2025\/01\/Comms-Mtg-Nov-2024.pdf\">(slides)<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Two more Faculty Scholarship Symposia are planned for February 19 and April 2.<\/li>\n<li>Over 50 people responded to Faculty Handbook revision survey. Committee is working to address concerns.<\/li>\n<li>Academic Freedom Policy is open for public comment until December 20.<\/li>\n<li>Proposed FA Bylaws revisions have been posted and will be voted on at the next meeting. Addressing concerns raised at the last meeting, term limits in place only for the <i>Chairs<\/i> of GECCo and WAC. Language regarding the appointment of Directors has also been corrected.<\/li>\n<li>Final report on the first Morale Survey has been completed and reviewed by FAEC. The next Leadership Survey will take place in the spring, and another Morale Survey will take place next fall, establishing a 2-year cycle for both.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>College President&#8217;s Report:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Message of gratitude for the Teaching and Learning Core<\/li>\n<li>BA in Theater and Film has been approved by the State.<\/li>\n<li>A Ramapo student was the recipient of the prestigious Gilman Scholarship.<\/li>\n<li>Encouraged faculty to participate in public comment period for the Academic Freedom Policy.<\/li>\n<li>Over 6000 applications for next academic year, a new record for this point in the recruitment cycle.<\/li>\n<li>Impending 5% budget cut across the board from the state government<\/li>\n<li>Message on remaining committed to our values and weathering uncertainty<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Provost&#8217;s Report:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Message on working together and standing for our values<\/li>\n<li>Thank you to members of the Conveners Task Force and Academic Structures Task Force; both have submitted their reports to the Provost for consideration.<\/li>\n<li>TAS Dean, Director of Study Abroad, and several faculty searches are ongoing.<\/li>\n<li>Thank you to faculty who have invited the Provost to their classes, and to faculty who serve on all-College committees.<\/li>\n<li>Congratulations to Sharon Leathers and Kathleen Ray, winners of the Bischoff and Richardson faculty awards.<\/li>\n<li>Presented list of faculty recipients of Foundation Allocation Grants.<\/li>\n<li>Inaugural Research and Engagement Academy next semester: 2 coaches and 6 fellows announced<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Announcements:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Sponsored Faculty Research<\/b> (Michael Middleton, Provost) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/fa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/60\/2024\/12\/SponsoredFacultyResearch-FA-12-11-24.pptx\">(slides)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><b>Morale Survey Report<\/b> (Malavika Sundararajan, FAEC) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/fa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/60\/2024\/12\/FA-12-11-24-MoraleSurveyReport.pdf\">(slides)<\/a><br \/>\n    Summary of process was shared. Please share any materials you find useful with your unit rep.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>General Education Program Revision<\/b><br \/>\n        Ken McMurdy, FA President<br \/>\n        <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/fa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/60\/2024\/12\/GECCoCharge-FA-12-11-24.pdf\">Proposed charge to GECCo<\/a> was shared and discussed, prior to the vote. (See results below.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Voting Items:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>GE Revision &#8211; Charge to GECCo (see above)<br \/>\n        Motion was approved by a vote of 51 approve, 10 do not approve, and 14 abstain.<\/li>\n<li>FA Bylaws Revision &#8211; ARC, GECCo and WAC<br \/>\n        <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/fa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/60\/2024\/12\/FA-Bylaws-3Committees-Final.pdf\">Final Proposal<\/a> shared at <i>this<\/i> meeting, to be voted on at the <i>next<\/i> FA meeting, per the existing bylaws revision process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Elections:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>GECCo: Scientific Reasoning Category Coordinator<br \/>\n        Carrie Miller was elected.<\/li>\n<li>HSI Exploratory Task Force: FA Representatives (3)<br \/>\n        Cristina Perez, Dolly Sacristan and Inderani Walia were elected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Meeting adjourned at 2:45 pm.<\/p>\n<p>*For this meeting, the formal FA program was <i>preceded<\/i> by a Faculty Forum from 1:00-1:25 pm to discuss concerns around academic freedom.
