Cesar Leon, Ph.D.

Education 

Dr. Cesar León (Pronouns: he/him/his) holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Fordham University, a Master’s degree in Applied Psychology from New York University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.

Relevant Experience

Dr. León joined the Center for Health and Counseling Services at Ramapo College as a psychological counselor and multicultural specialist in December 2018.  As the Counseling Center’s multicultural specialist, Dr. Leon leads the department’s education and outreach efforts among underrepresented student groups on campus in order to increase mental health awareness and access to services.  Prior to joining the team at CHCS, Dr. León worked as a bilingual licensed psychologist at the New York State Psychiatric Institute’s Audubon Clinic.  He completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral clinical internship at Columbia University Medical Center.

Professional Interests

Developmental concerns in adolescents and young adults; issues of culture and race, particularly among traditionally underserved populations; cultural adjustment issues; interpersonal and family dynamics; depression; psychotic disorders; psychodynamic and humanistic psychotherapy.

Personal Interests

In his free time, Dr. León enjoys learning, exercising, playing sports, competing in Spartan obstacle course races, and spending quality time with family and friends.  As a native of Washington Heights, Manhattan, he is also an avid fan of his hometown teams– the 4-time Super Bowl Champion Giants and 27-time World Series Champion Yankees.
