Grant Money Available

Training for what the state of New Jersey calls “In-Demand Jobs” and job skills is important to the economic well-being of the state. NJ Skills Partnership grants provide organizations with funding to enhance specific job skills that the state has identified to be in high demand in the near future. Ramapo College of New Jersey is an Eligible Training Provider listed with the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development (as well as a number of New York state grantors).

What Kind of Organizations Have Secured NJ State Training Grants?

Organizations across every industry have received NJ Skills Partnership grants. The following are some of the organizations that were recently awarded training grants by the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development:

Church & Dwight
General Millsgirl with computer
Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield
Johns Manville
Thermo Fisher

How Does It Work?

There are three steps to getting approval and implementing a New Jersey Skills Partnership organizational training grant:

  1. Letter of Intent. This alerts the state that you’ll be submitting a grant proposal. Letters of Interest can be submitted throughout the year, and are reviewed and grants awarded four times per year.
  2. Grant proposal. This form has to be submitted within a couple of weeks of the Letter of Intent. It details the organizational purpose, how the training will advance the purpose and profitability, number of trainees/programs requested, and a draft budget.
  3. Grant approval or non-approvalIf the state approves some or all of your grant request, it confirms the details of your program including number of trainees, number of programs, budget, grant, schedule, etc. Non-approvals are often communicated with revision suggestions for a re-application.
  4. Grant Close-out. The grant will require that you file 1) regular online reports with the state to update your progress toward completion of the grant, and 2) a review of the training results versus the goals set forth in the grant proposal.

How Much Can I Save?

A NJ Skills Partnership training grant can cover up to $50,000 in training costs.
