The ability to obtain, analyze and synthesize large amounts of data is key to most research in both the natural sciences and the social sciences. The Statistics minor is designed to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">encourage students studying in another discipline to gain a deeper understanding of statistics. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The program will also prepare students for graduate school and careers in industrial statistics, actuarial science, biostatistics, and research.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>Requirements of the Minor <\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<ol>\n<li>Students are required to take 4 courses<\/li>\n<li>At least half of the courses fulfilling a minor must be distinct from the student\u2019s major. That is, two of the four courses\u00a0 required for a minor cannot be used towards fulfillment of major requirements. A School Core does not need to be completed for a minor. Minors are open to students regardless of school affiliation.<\/li>\n<li>Not all courses are offered each semester.
