The mathematical reasoning, computational skills, and ability to apply them to solve real problems are all skills valued by employers and provide most of the goals on which we built this program. Being part of the Center for Data, Mathematical, and Computational Sciences provides the\u00a0additional intersectionality between the Applied Mathematics and the Data Science and Computer Science programs. This gives enrolled students an interdisciplinary perspective in all courses, including mathematics courses, which will make them highly effective team members in the workplace.<\/p>\n<p>This Applied Mathematics degree is a 30-credit program requiring courses in Applied Linear Algebra, Applied Probability, and Mathematical Modeling, along with Ethics in Data and Computing and a Master\u2019s Thesis. Students will select five electives from two categories. The first category is a mathematics category that includes four courses with the potential to add more. The second category is an applications category that includes courses from the Computer Science and Data Science programs designed to build students\u2019 computational skills and interdisciplinary understanding. Students may also participate in a Fieldwork Experience to satisfy this elective category. The opportunity to work with industry partners is a relatively rare component of a M.S. in Applied Mathematics (MSAM) program. In conjunction with the MS in Data Science and MS in Computer Science, Ramapo has an exciting and strong core of technology-related graduate programs. The interlocking aspects of the three curriculums will provide the opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration Ramapo is known for in its undergraduate programs.<\/p>\n<p>The Master of Science (MS) degree is a 30-credit program. Full-time students will complete their degree in two years; however, students may work towards the degree part-time as well.
