{"id":2819,"date":"2014-03-10T14:51:35","date_gmt":"2014-03-10T18:51:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/catalog-2014-2015\/?page_id=2808"},"modified":"2018-04-25T21:09:00","modified_gmt":"2018-04-26T01:09:00","slug":"adult-degree-completion-program","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/catalog-2018-2019\/adult-degree-completion-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Degree Completion Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/accelerated-programs\/\">https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/accelerated-programs\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Program Director: \u00a0<\/strong>Patricia Laprey<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"mailto:plaprey@ramapo.edu\">plaprey@ramapo.edu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Resources:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"majorTableSubHeading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/crm.orionondemand.com\/crm\/forms\/KC670wkS8670x6700lzo\">Request Information<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>About the Degree Completion Program<\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<p>Ramapo College&#8217;s Degree Completion Program (DCP) provides returning adult students ages 25 and older a fully-mapped out pathway to finishing their undergraduate degree on an accelerated schedule. \u00a0The Degree Completion Program offers three accelerated majors:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Social Science with a Justice concentration<\/li>\n<li>Contemporary Arts with a Professional Communications concentration.<\/li>\n<li>Business Administration with a Marketing Concentration<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>These accelerated majors combine on-line, hybrid and evening classroom study on a part-time, year-round schedule (fall, winter, spring and summer).<\/p>\n<p>In general, DCP students should have at least 64 credits, either through an Associate\u2019s Degree or through a combination of transfer credits from previous institutions.\u00a0 Students must be part of a Degree Completion Program cohort in order to enroll either in one of the DCP accelerated majors or in a DCP section of a course.\u00a0 Students applying to the accelerated Business Administration major should have an A.S. in Business Administration prior to enrollment; students without the A.S. degree may need to complete up to one additional year of pre-requisite coursework before entering the accelerated program.\u00a0 Applicants to the accelerated Business Administration major should have a minimum 2.5 GPA in their previous coursework.\u00a0 Applicants with a GPA lower than 2.5 who have significant work experience and\/or other mitigating factors may be considered for admission pending approval of the Dean.<\/p>\n<p>DCP majors provide the entirety of any courses required by the major, along with any school core requirements, as part of the mapped curriculum. \u00a0The Degree Completion Program assumes that a student has successfully completed Ramapo&#8217;s general education requirements prior to enrollment. \u00a0However, students who need to complete outstanding General Education requirements or elective credits can do so through advisement from the program director.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<h4 class=\"facultyListing\"><span style=\"color: #800000\">BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION:\u00a0 MARKETING\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>About the DCP Business Administration: Marketing Concentration<\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<p>Ramapo\u2019s accelerated Business Administration major, with a concentration in Marketing, provides students with a solid foundation in business, including business law, ethics, international business, finance and strategic management.\u00a0 Marketing topics covered include marketing communication, consumer behavior, marketing research, e-marketing, and marketing strategy. Hands-on learning experiences allow you to develop and apply creative skills and analytical thinking, with an emphasis on social responsibility and ethical decision-making.\u00a0 This major prepares you to work or advance in a variety of marketing-related business careers, such as digital marketing, social media marketing, sales, advertising, media planning, and brand management, providing graduates with a breadth of knowledge across business fields that will enable them to be successful in the workforce.This major is offered by the Anisfield School of Business and leads to a Bachelor of Science degree.\u00a0 In addition to the major requirements, students must fulfill General Education and Anisfield School of Business requirements.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>Outcomes for the Major<\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<p><strong>Goal 1:<\/strong> Communication: Our students will demonstrate effective oral and written communication using appropriate current technology.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Outcome<\/strong>: Students will deliver well prepared oral fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>About the DCP Contemporary Arts:  Professional Communication Major<\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<p>The Degree Completion Program&#8217;s accelerated Contemporary Arts: Professional Communication major is an interdisciplinary contract major that enables returning students to focus on four key areas of the field:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Written communication<\/li>\n<li>Persuasion and oral communication<\/li>\n<li>Visual communication<\/li>\n<li>Business and non-profit communication<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The DCP Contemporary Arts: Professional Communication major requires a minimum of 48 credits, including a co-op\/internship and a capstone course,\u00a0in addition to the School of Contemporary Arts Core. \u00a0Sixteen of those credits must be at the upper level (300-400).<\/p>\n<p>This major is offered by the School of Contemporary Arts and leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree. \u00a0In addition to the major requirements, students must fulfill General Education and School of Contemporary Arts requirements.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span the Major<\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<p><strong>Outcome 1: <\/strong>Understand the discipline or inter-disciplines identified as part of their learning agreement developed in consultation with their academic advisor.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Outcome 2: <\/strong>Apply creative thinking in the work they produce.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Outcome 3: <\/strong>Be able to write appropriately to their discipline. This outcome includes demonstrating and synthesizing significant ideas about the disciplines through writing.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Outcome 4: <\/strong>Produce advanced work that demonstrates skills relevant to their discipline.
