What is a Project Manager?

Often people who are Project Managers do not have a “Project Manager” title. Construction Managers, Supply Chain Managers, Event Planners and Accountants are often Project Managers. Project Managers are now found in nearly every industry. As long as you plan and control a unique business endeavor, you are acting as a Project Manager.

What is the refund policy?

Registration fees are non-refundable. Module refunds for withdrawals requested by Friday of the first week of class are issued at 100% only when notification is submitted in writing to bus.certs@ramapo.edu. Refunds for withdrawals submitted in writing during the second week of the program are issued at 50% and a $50 processing fee applies. No withdrawal refunds are given after the second week of the program.

When are module payments due?

To confirm a seat in the program, module payments are due 30 days in advance of the start date. If you sign up for the program after this time period, payment is due prior to the first day of class and your registration is based on seat availability. You may make individual payments of $950 per module or pay the entire amount due of $3,800.

How do I go about retaking a module?

If you would like to retake a module, it is possible you may do so at no additional cost. Please email our office at bus.certs@ramapo.edu so that we have your request in writing. You will receive a response within five business days.

Will I be PMP®, CAPM® or PMI-ACP® certified upon taking this course?

No, only the Project Management Institute (PMI), the global standard for Project Management credentials, is authorized to provide the certification credentials. As a PMI-approved educational provider for project management training, Ramapo College meets all the educational requirements that are necessary for sitting for the standardized tests administered by PMI. Testing fees for exams are paid directly to PMI and are not included in the Ramapo College Project Management Certificate, (PMP), with Agile (Scrum), PMI-ACP Live, or On-line program tuition. Will I receive academic credit for these courses?

No. The Project Management Certificate, (PMP), with Agile (Scrum), PMI-ACP On-line modules are non-credit courses. However an alpha and/or numeric grade can be provided with the Certificate of Completion.

Will I receive a transcript after completing this course?

No, the Office of the Registrar only creates and distributes official college transcripts for credit-bearing coursework. Because Project Management Certificate, (PMP), with Agile (Scrum), PMI-ACP On-line courses are non-credit, there is no official transcript that can be requested through the Registrar’s office. Yet, for proof of completion of individual courses, a letter on Ramapo College letterhead that indicates the courses completed, year of completion, and signed by the certificate program coordinator may be issued upon request. Requests must be submitted in writing to bus.certs@ramapo.edu.

The Project Management Certificate, (PMP), with Agile (Scrum), PMI-ACP Virtual On-line is a non-credit bearing program. This means students cannot apply scholarships and financial aid awarded through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to cover the tuition. Students may, however, obtain loans from two private loan sources: Sallie Mae and Wells Fargo.

Please review both loans to determine which works best for you:

Sallie Mae often responds same day with “offer/deny” or up to 48 hours and Wells Fargo takes about 24-48 hours.

Company Paid

Businesses and organizations support their employees by funding the program via one of two methods: Purchase Order or Reimbursement.

Purchase Order:

Please request a purchase order from your organization. Once approved, have your organization email the completed purchase order to bus.certs@ramapo.edu or you may attach a scanned copy as part of your online application.

Your organization will be invoiced for payment prior to the start of your program.

Reimbursement:

Some businesses/organizations require their employees to pay for the program up front from their own resources and submit paperwork at a later date for reimbursement.

For reimbursements to occur as you move through the four modules, you must request a grade report from the instructor as soon as you have finished the quizzes for each module. Specify whether the business/organization needs a percentage grade or a letter grade, and the minimum grade for full reimbursement.

Because quizzes may be retaken, we will review your grades to be certain you have attained competence before providing you a signed grade report. Students may also request to finish quizzes a little ahead of schedule to accommodate their credit card payment schedule to better coincide with their reimbursement schedule.

Grant Money for Unemployed Persons

You may be eligible for a Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) grant that covers all costs for the 96-hour Project Management Certificate program (tuition, books, and parking). You may be eligible without knowing it! The only way to find out is to talk with a counselor.

How to Get Your Grant:

  1. Check with the Business Professional Certificate Programs office for a list of participating Career Center counties.
  2. Make an appointment with your county Career Center counselor. County office locations are found here (after clicking, be sure to scroll down the page).
  3. Visit your county Career Center counselor. Bring these items:
    1. A printed copy of this Ramapo College Project Management web page.
    2. A printed copy of the Ramapo College Project Management program description from NJTOPPS (click here).
    3. Other documents if requested by your Career Center counselor.
  4. Once your counselor asks for a program “Acceptance Letter”, begin your registration for The Project Management Certificate program on the website.
  5. Registration notes:
    1. Once on the Project Management Certificate web page, click on the red “Register Now” button.
    2. When asked for your payment method, click “Career Center – formerly One-Stop” as a registration fee is not required for WIOA registrants.
    3. Be sure to have your resume available for upload (registrations can not be processed without your resume
  6. A letter acknowledging and accepting your registration is sent directly to your counselor.
  7. Your counselor sends a contract to Ramapo College.
  8. Once approved and registered, you will receive an email with your course materials , parking pass and location information as applicable — approximately 2 days before class starts.
  9. Check with the Business Professional Certificate Programs office for a list of participating Career Center counties.

Course Proctoring

On Campus:

When live class and study time is located on campus, study time is tracked in proctored labs, which either have a live proctor or are electronically proctored. Upon arrival at the Mahwah campus, the student uses one of the many classroom computers (or their own laptop) to log into Canvas.

On-line:

Online classes are electronically proctored. The Ramapo College classroom management system (Canvas) defines when the student is within the system, what they are doing, and where they are geolocated. This effectively proctors the student with an electronic timestamp. The student confirms via using the Career Center supplied timesheets as well as an Excel tracking spreadsheet.

Grant Money for Unemployed Persons

Ramapo College is approved and on the Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL) for the following career training centers in New York state. Make an appointment with a counselor at the resource in the county in which you live.

You may be eligible for a grant that covers all costs for the 96-hour Project Management Certification program (tuition, books, and parking). You may be eligible without knowing it! The only way to find out is to talk with a counselor.

Faculty/Staff Tuition Remission

Ramapo College offers the following employee tuition remission for the Project Management Certificate program: All Ramapo College permanent employees, regardless of full-time or part-time status, are invited to participate in the Project Management Certificate Program Employee Discount Plan. The plan allows for a 40% savings on the $950 tuition for each of the four required modules. All other fees and costs (e.g., $125 non-refundable registration fee) are the responsibility of the employee.

Policies

Timeline for Completion Requirement

Students must complete all certificate requirements at RCNJ; transfer credits cannot be used to satisfy these requirements. In addition, all certificate requirements must be completed within 2 years of acceptance to the program. Upon completion of these requirements, students receive a Project Management Certificate from the Anisfield School of Business at Ramapo College of New Jersey. RCNJ will verify completion of the program to potential employers or other parties when requested by the student.

Refunds for withdrawals requested by Friday of the first week of class are issued at 100% only when notification is submitted in writing to bus.certs@ramapo.edu. Refunds for withdrawals submitted in writing during the second week of the program are issued at 50% and a $50 processing fee applies. No withdrawal refunds are given after the second week of the program.

Cancellations

Ramapo College reserves the right to cancel any module/course due to limited enrollment, lack of facilities or unanticipated unavailability of faculty. Full tuition will be refunded when a module/course is cancelled.

Returned Checks

There is a $25 returned check fee.

Certificates

A Project Management Certificate noting completion of the Ramapo College certificate requirements is provided at the successful conclusion of the program. Replacements are $5 each.

What’s Not Included?

Testing fees for exams are paid to the Project Management Institute and are not included in the tuition.

Faculty/Instructors

Ramapo College reserves the right to substitute faculty/instructors if necessary.

Registration Confirmation

All registration requests are confirmed by email. The email confirmation includes a link for registering and making payments for each module. If you request registration and do not receive an email confirmation, please email bus.certs@ramapo.edu or call (201) 684-7370.

Parking Passes

Parking passes are sent via email prior to the first day of class and must be displayed to avoid a ticket.
