Can I study part-time as an international student?

No, international students can not study part time. US immigration law requires that all international students on an F-1 visa must maintain full-time enrollment.

Is Ramapo College test optional?

Ramapo College is test-optional for all programs, except for articulation programs. If you choose to submit an SAT or ACT score, please indicate that on your application. If you choose not to submit, we will review your application holistically using other documents and submitted materials.

What standardized tests do international applicants need to take?

Applicants must demonstrate fluency in English by submitting scores from a standardized test.  Ramapo College will accept scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). All applications are considered for admission individually. Applicants should use the following guidelines for test results:
  • IELTS – 6.0
  • TOEFL – Paper Based 550
  • TOEFL – Computer Based 213
  • TOEFL – Internet based 79
  • ELS – Completion of Intensive English Program Level 112
  • DUOLINGO – 105

Are scholarships available for international students?

International students who plan on living on campus will automatically receive a $4,000 Out-of-State Housing Grant. In addition, Ramapo College offers merit-based scholarships for admitted students and is offered in or after receipt of your acceptance letter. The deadline to apply for merit-based scholarships is December 15.

Can international students work on campus?

Yes, according to U.S law, on-campus employment is the only legal employment for international students.
