Inter Greek Senate

The Inter-Greek Senate (IGS) is the student-run governing body for the fraternity and sorority system. All registered fraternities and sororities are required to be members of IGS and must abide by its rulings and policies. IGS is composed of an Executive Board consisting of seven elected officers and a Senate composed of one member from each registered organization.

IGS votes on and sets the rules for all fraternities and sororities as well as organizes events for the fraternity/sorority and Ramapo community, such as Greek Week, community services events, programs, and workshops. IGS also reviews all expansion documents when new groups present themselves for consideration. The IGS will at that time, make a recommendation to the College for acceptance or denial of registration.

Greek Week

Greek Week at Ramapo is an annual event for the IGS affiliated fraternities and sororities, as well as their alumni who come back to give their brothers/sisters support. It is a week-long tradition that is held in the spring semester of every year where fraternities and sororities, are showcased throughout the campus. During this week fraternities and sororities compete in a variety of events for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies. These competitions include: Soccer, Softball, Track and Field events, Swimming events, Basketball, Volleyball, Tug of War, Obstacle Course, Five Legged Race, and a Lip Sync Contest. Greek Week is a special tradition at Ramapo full of athletics, fun, competition, and true bonding between fraternities and sororities.
